Question about 2002 Aprilia Atlantic 500

Battery Tender - advice needed In winter time there's always some months where I can't ride. After a long winter I has some times been hard to start up some of my previous bikes. Before I got a vehicle with IE I could get it started with the kick starter or by pushing it. No more with my SC. To avoid this I was looking for a battery charger

What the best battery for are 1340 softail

Hi Alfred, excellent question, always keep battery clean and terminals tight, we do not want help surface discharge. If you are not going to ride for a few weeks keep it on a battery tender. For winter storage disconnect battery negative cable, and reconnect and put back on battery tender about 1 week before you expect to ride again. Good luck

How can i jump start my vmax ? i cant seem to get the seat out!

taking the seat of a vmax is really easy. open the seat like your gonna full the gas tank, on both sides is a plastic piece coming from the seat. on nut on each side comes out and the seat lifts back and up. if your talking about just starting with a battery cable you can just reach the battery cables with the seat off. if your talking about jump starting by forward motioin and using the clutch its best to find a hill and get it going and put the bike in 2nd gear and let the clutch out. WARNING. If the bike don`t start you probably won`t be able to push it up hills, it weighs 650 lbs. but you can not jump start the bike without taking off the seat. suggestion, buy a battery tender terminal hookup for $5 and screw the two wires onto your batter and let if hang out the side of the seat, it has a cap over to keep it dry in the rain and if you buy a battery tender you will be able to jump the bike or charge the battery without taking of the seat every time. the battery tender cost from $20 to $40 it s worth the money. if your not going to ride you bike in the winter hook up the battery tender and leave the battery out of the bike for the winter in a garage or basement hooked to the battery tender. cost pennys a month and save the battery life.
hope this helps

My husbands bike is always parks inside for winter, and when we parked it worked and drove. but when we tried starting it the battery was dead wouldnt even start when boosted. and we put a new battery and...

How long is the bike setting between when you park it and when you try to start it again? When you get ready to ride it, did you put a battery charger on it and bring the battery to a full charge?

When thinking it's getting to be time to ride, I recommend charging the battery with a charger disigned for ATV'S/motorcycles. When the battery is fully charged, take the charger off and test the battery with a load tester. If it passes the load test, attempt to start the bike. If it starts, and there is no further problems, Enjoy the ride till you park it long term again. I might suggest putting a battery tender and very slow trickle chat=rge on during storage

Hope this helps you

I am putting my 1700 vulcan nomad up for the winter in a unheated garage, i ride it when i can all year so i leave the battery in and do use a gasoline additive over the cold months, is it better to start...

I live in Minnesota . I vote for fuel stabilizer and charging the battery overnight once a month. In cold weather batteries hibernate in the cold and do not need constant tending (unless your vehicle has live electronics when it is turned off like a clock, or radio with memory, etc.) If you start and run your bike you will collect moisture in your exhaust(rust), on cool down you collect moisture all over your motor, waste fuel, run a high risk of fowling plugs, put extra wear and tear on your starter, and run down your battery starting your cycle in unfavorable conditions. Definitely: Stabil and charge once a month.

How do I remove the battery for the winter months?

Most people use what is called a Battery tender... which is just a fancy way of saying low amp (2Amp) battery charger...
Buy one , and hook up the quick connect harness provided... plug it in... and you are good to go... It is said that use of this battery tender system extends the life of the battery by as much as 100% ( double the life expectency !!).

so , dont remove it... Tend it...
For storing your bike in an are without electrical outlets... use the solar battery tender !

Sitting all winter with battery tender, battery

The best place to store a battery is in the back of your refrigerator, but you don't want to do that.Your battery will hibernate in the cold, but will age in the warmth. Your car battery is outside all winter and it does not freeze. I put my batteries in a tray, fully charge them and leave them in the garage, topping them up one or twice during the winter and once before installation in the spring. If a battery freezes I would have had to replace it anyway it would not have been good for the season anyway. Put your battery on a different charger and have your battery load tested at a shop. You either have a defective battery, or a defective battery tender, or both. At any rate warm storage for batteries is bad, cool or cold is better for longevity.

I attempted to tender my motorcycle battery over the winter but I discovered that it did not stay plugged in all winter. The meter on the tender says it is full charged but when I installed the battery the...

Unfortunately, bike batteries seem to **** out from one season to the next due to material build-up (from vibration) in the bottom of the battery case which causes the cells to discharge even when recharged through the storage period. The meter on your charger (unplugged) is reading battery voltage, but if you turn on the headlight, the voltage would show very low. Try charging the battery at 2 to 4 amps rate overnight (about 6 hours) and see if the battery recovers. If it fails rapidly, get a new battery. Hope this helps!

Where is the battery location for my 2007 vstar 1100. and how often do i need to charge it.

Battery is under the seat. Buy a battery tender and keep it hooked up when not riding in the winter. If you are in an area of the country where you can ride year round then a battery tender is not necessary. Battery will probably last 3+ years if properly maintained. I owned a 2000 V-Star 1100 Classic and it was a fine bike.
