Bad gas milage
The problem sound like you have too much back pressure building up in the exhaust. Start by disconnecting the exhaust Y-pipe. Then start the engine and run again if the engine does not back fire, reconnect the exhaust everything after the Y-pipe. If the problem returns it is safe to say that the catalytic converters are clogged and need to be replaced.*** Make sure you use PB BLASTER or LIQUID WRENCH on the exhaust bolts to help with removal.***

Under the intake manifold,if I got your engine correct,
is a fuel pressure regulator with what are called spyders
attached,that are plastic tubes with poppet valves on the ends
Basically fuel injectors
They fail & the poppets leak.

Sounds like a o2 sensor, if you don't have a check engine light on, you soon will. The PCM can be scanned to find out which one is faulty.
