If the security light is flashing when that happens, you need to turn the key to the ON position, and let it sit for 10 minutes, so it can reset the security code. Start it up as normal and let it idle for 5 minutes.

I drove my 2004 alero 8 miles one way then 8 miles back put gas in it then had to jump it off

this sounds messed up but do you live by any fields? i have many problems even in the cities with mice chewing up wire harnesses.. just a thought. my friend had a 2013 and she got to the doctors but wouldnt start after that. mice got to wire harness and it broke enough when she shut it off.

My 2004 alero works just fine all the time, but today leaving for work, it won't start. Just got one click and nothing, no trying to turn over. It seems like the dome light works, maybe dimmer than...

Sounds like a battery. Battery probably has enough juice to make the dome lights work, but not enough juice to turn the starter. Have your battery checked out.

I tied to jump my 2010 honda odyssey. it ntook the charge, but the horn wouldnt stop even after i started to drive. I turned it off, and the horn still wouldnt stop. eventually the car died again.

this is an anti theft problem because your battery went below 10 volts.try charging battery up to proper levels and reconnecting to vehicle should be fine.

03 Alero will start but dies right away

It sounds like your fuel filter has gone it life time and now to dirty to permit the proper fuel flow if any.
Start with checking the fuel pressure at the shredder valve, you should have over 45 PSI i believe but could be wrong, can not remember could be 60 PSI.
If you can not check the fuel pressure, change the fuel filter first then see if it starts. If it does not, then it may be a bad fuel pump and need to be replaced. The fuel pump is electric and have a life time too and it may be at it's end also.
Good luck and keep me posted.

What is trac off

Trac off simply means that your traction control system is turned off. This light generally comes on when your car is started for a while like many of the lights just to ensure everything is working. It does sound like you have some kind of problem developing but it's very unlikely that it has anything to do with the traction control system. Generally in mid-priced cars like the alero all traction control does is either stop power to the wheel slipping or apply gentle brake pressure to the tire that's slipping. Just get a diagnostic run would be my suggestion. You can turn the traction control off yourself if you want to understand it better, many car enthusiasts do so as it allows you to use sliding and traction loss to your advantage. Leaving traction control on does generally increase safety for your average driver, but makes it virtually impossible for an experienced driver to perform any of the stunts we often see in racing.
