Can you help, my car seems to have a misfire or something when putting foot on Excelerator peddle it sort of jolts the whole car and seem like it's gonna die? (Ga14ds caburator'd engine)

Based on the symptoms you've described, it sounds like your car may be experiencing a misfire. Here are some potential causes and solutions:
  1. Ignition system: A faulty ignition system can cause a misfire. Check the spark plugs, ignition coil, distributor cap, and ignition wires for any signs of damage or wear. Replace any faulty components.
  2. Fuel system: A clogged fuel filter or malfunctioning fuel pump can cause a misfire. Check the fuel filter and pump to ensure they are functioning properly. Consider cleaning or replacing the fuel injectors as well.
  3. Carburetor: Since your engine is carburetor'd, a dirty or faulty carburetor can also cause a misfire. Clean or rebuild the carburetor as needed.
  4. Vacuum leaks: A vacuum leak can cause a misfire. Inspect the vacuum lines and hoses for any signs of damage or cracks, and replace any damaged components.
  5. Timing issues: If the engine timing is off, it can cause a misfire. Check the timing belt or chain to ensure it is in good condition, and check the ignition timing.

Need fuse box and semantics for 99 Lincoln Continental it has code 301 & 308 stalls when you put it in drive.

What do you need fuse box an wiring diagrams for ? P0301 an P0308 are misfire codes . Has nothing to do with fuse , spark plugs ,spark plug wires etc....
P0301 through P0310 - Misfire Detection Monitor The misfire detection monitor is designed to monitor engine misfire and identify the specific cylinder in which the misfire has occurred. Misfire is defined as lack of combustion in a cylinder due to absence of spark, poor fuel metering, poor compression, or any other cause.
  • Ignition system
  • Fuel injectors
  • Running out of fuel
  • EVAP canister purge valve
  • Fuel pressure
  • Evaporative emission system
  • Base engine
The MIL will blink once per second when a misfire is detected severe enough to cause catalyst damage. If the MIL is on steady state, due to a misfire, this will indicate the threshold for emissions was exceeded and cause the vehicle to fail an inspection and maintenance tailpipe test.

I have a 98 S10 pickup 2.2L. Engine has a bad misfire and no check engine light.

Improper spark plug gap
Damaged spark plugs
Poor contact between wires and spark plug or cap or coil pack
Bad insulation on plug wires
Cracks or corrosion build up on cap and rotor
Weak or defective coil(s)
Weak or defective ignition module
Weak or dirty crank sensor
Timing
Fuel pressure (from pump)
Clogged fuel filter
Defective injectors
Vacuum leaks
Defective injector drivers (computer)
Poor compression

That is all I can think may causes engine to misfire.

When accelerating check engine light flashes on and off at the same time truck looses a lot of power, like it sputters?

Hello K Martin.
A flashing check engine light indicates engine misfire.
Misfire will reduce power.
Misfire is usually caused by poor ignition (spark plugs, wires, ignition coil).
These are the first things a mechanic will check.
If they are OK then fuel systems will be looked at.
After that usually mechanical items such as timing components, valve train etc.
If you are a handy fellow and it's been a while it may be a good time to replace spark plugs and ignition wires.
Hope this helps you solve the problem.

Thank you for using FixYa.
