SOURCE: head gasket leak on 2oo5 vtxf? does the head

Likely, you have a warped head from the overheating which caused the leak. The head must be removed and resurfaced or replaced if badly warped. Look for the cause of the overheating which caused the damage in the first place.

I'M replacing my head gasket on my 1983 RM250 Suzuki. Do I use gasket sealer or not? I know there are holes that the coolant goes through. Thank you.

I always used a little around the waterways. A lot depends on how good the gasket is and how clean you can get the surfaces.

Can you put head gaskets on back to front

it is very possible to install head gaskets backwards. if installed incorretly you will block oil and water passages .the oil hole is not very large so you will want to make sure they are not clogged by the gasket material

I have a 1999 RM250. I changed rings and ever since then my bike once its hot spits and sputters and eventually shuts off. I noticed antifreeze coming out the overflow tube as well Whats wrong with my bike...

it sounds like your head gasket is leaking or you have a crack in the head. either way coolant is entering the cylinder and the moisture is shorting out the spark plug.

Steps to change valve cover gasket

VERY EASY! YOU'LL HAVE TO UNBOLT THE VALVE COVER, AND REMOVE IT! CLEN IT COMPLETELY OUT, AND SCRAP OFF ANY LEFT OVER GASKET ON THE COVER! THEN BE SURE THERE IS NO LEFT OVER GASKET ON THE TOP OF THE HEAD THAT IT SITS ON! INSTALL THE NEW GASKET ON THE VALVE COVER USING A GASKET ADHESIVE! THIS WILL HOLE IT IN PLACE WHILE YOU PUT IT BACK ON THE HEAD! MAKE SURE ALL THE BOLT HOLES LINE UP ON THE GASKET TO VALVE COVER, AND PLACE IT BACK ON THE HEAD, THEN TIGHTEN THE BOLTS DOWN EASY FROM THE CENTER, OUT TO THE BACK, THEN TO THE FRONT! START THE CAR, AND CHECK FOR LEAKS! IF NONE-U R DONE! GOOD JOB!!!!!

Try a motorcycle junk yard.Take your old pipe it will come in handy sometimes part off a difrent year or model may be close enougth to keep that old bike going.I once rebuilt a Suzuki TS100 top end twice with the pistons from suzuki 200cc 2 cyl street bike that just happened to use similar piston and rings even head gaskets wich I did reuse when ya aint got no money or cant get parts you gotta do wat yat gotta do to keep them old ones going.

If you have a 1986 honda 250 an if it dont compress what could be wrong?

If you don't have compression on your bike's engine it could be either broken piston rings or faulty head gasket. Try changing resealing the head gasket first and see if it works other wise consider opening the cylinder block and check the piston rings and bore of the cylinder.

Water leak

The small hole under the water pump is the weep hole and is designed to start dripping water when your pump has a problem. You should remove the pump and find out what the problem is before it quits and leaves you stranded. Could be simply the seal, or the shaft may have become pitted.

With the brakes, I assume you have looked at the brake pads and they are good so bleeding is definitely the first option. If that does not fix it remove the calipers and check that the pistons move when you squeeze the lever and that you can easily push them back into the caliper (after you disconnect the brake line). Then rebuild them if required and reinstall.
