when the engine dies pull out the spark plug and earth the plug on the metal part and turn it over dont hold the spark plug as you will get a shock if the plug sparks you know the ignition system is working.if you have no spark do a compresion test to see if there is a problem with the engine.if that ok you will have a fuel problem make sure the breather on the fuel tank isn blocked or trapped.

Sounds like the engine is flooded with gas.Turn the fuel off if you can.Remove the spark plug and move the wire away from the spark plug hole. Now turn the engine over like your trying to start it.See if gas comes out spark plug hole if yes engine is flooded. If it is flood that bad your exhaust will have fuel in it also. You should get a new spark plug before trying to start it again. If gas does not come out the plug hole.Install the new plug and try starting it with the fuel off.Hope this helps.

Was riding my 2015 Taotao 50 cc and it shut off now it won't start, replace with new carburetor new gas filter oil change still won't start help me wanna cruise around in my scooter...

Make sure key is on. There is also probably an ignition kill switch on the handlebars. Make sure this is in operating position. Either of these will shut it off. If both are on next pull the spark plug. Lay the spark plug on the engine still connected to the ignition wire. Turn the engine over and observe the plug for spark. If there is none you have an electrical issue. If spark exists you have fuel issues. If the plug was wet when you pulled it out the engine is flooded.

WONT START, NEW BATERY ON

Well, ALL engines need Compression, Fuel, and Spark.

I would recommend firstly doing a compression test, a good, brand new engine, can reach upwards of 150+PSI easy, over a hundred on each should be good enough to get full output. Also, check if they are within 10% of one another. If compression is not adequate, or missing on one side as oppose to the other, Valves need to be checked, rocker arm assembly too, as well as valve clearances. You may need to "lap" the valves, repair the push rod assembly, etc etc.

Once you checked compression, and all is well, or fixed. Spark is the next step to me. You can either A: Pull out plug, connect plug wire to plug that is removed from engine, then ground the "Side Terminal" to block, make sure only the side terminal is touching block, turn over engine, watch for spark.http://www.miata.net/garage/KnowYourCar/S2_Plug_files/image004.jpg

You can use the safer and easier "spark gap tester" too, just pick one up at local automotive parts store, or buy online.

If you do not have spark, check the ignition coils, some are a magnetic pickup style that are under the flywheel, others just use a standard coil that has two secondaries that's supplied by battery voltage. I have had bad plugs, plug wires, etc cause hard or no starts, so if in question, replace them/make new plug wires.

And now Fuel. Fuel can be tricky, you can have fuel, but not enough getting to the float bowl OR have enough, but the float is not adjusted properly. a Rough, bare bones, quick test for fuel is just paying attention to the exhaust, same for spark really, if you have a decent amount of smoke when turning over, normally fuel/spark are there. You can pull both plug wires, and turn engine over, literally paying attention to the saturation of gasoline smell coming from the exhaust. The best way to test fuel, is to have the machine running, and loaded down. ALSO, if you have a in line fuel filter that is empty, replace ALL fuel hoses. You could be fighting an air leak in hoses, or even a fuel pump itself.

2007 Piaggio Fly 50 intermittent hard starting

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or have an improper gap or are partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition.
3. Battery damaged or nearly discharged, should have 12.5 volts.
4. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Throttle controls not adjusted correctly.
6. Water or dirt in the fuel system.
7. Water or dirt in the carburetor.
8. Faulty fuel pump.
9. Intake air leak.
10. Fuel tank vent hose and vapor valve plugged, or fuel line closed off, restricting fuel flow.
11. Enricher valve inoperative.
12. Engine lubricant to heavy (winter operation).
13. Ignition is not functioning properly (possible sensor failure).
14. Faulty ignition coil.
15. Valves sticking.

How to tune the engine for the mileage in bajaj xcd 125

Hi Sudarsan2040, the following tips are low cost easy to apply/install and guaranteed to give you better gas mileage and a smoother running bike. The average motorcycle gets 35-40 MPG. saving .2 gallon of gas could save you a 6-mile walk. 125cc scooters have been known to get 115 plus MPG
1. Proper tire inflation as per MFG. specifications wheels should be balanced and spokes tight.
2. Oil and coolant levels maintained at full marks, low levels produce excessive heat that causes the engine to work harder and reduces efficiency.
3. Keep extra weight to a minimum.
4. Take off from a dead stop should be smooth and easy throttle applied avoid excessive throttle snaps.
5. Smaller windshields get better MPH than large ones, wind resistance increases as a square of the speed at which you're traveling. So, for example, at 70 mph, wind resistance is double what it is at 50 mph (70 squared is almost twice as much as 50 squared). That will dramatically reduce your mileage. Keep that in mind while biking.
6. Keep idle time to a bare minimum or turn off the engine.
7. Re-jet carburetor with a smaller main and mid-range jet.
8. Keep chain/belt properly adjusted.
9. Avoid quick braking, hasty acceleration, high-speed driving, try driving the speed limit and keep a constant speed.
10. On long trips use freeways or flat straight stretches of highways rather than city or rural routes avoid hills and mountains when possible.
11. Keep your engine clean, dirt and grease/oil hold in heat.
12. A full-face helmet is more aerodynamic than other types of helmets. Any other clothing that decreases your aerodynamic should be reconsidered.
13. Any unnecessary bling on your bike is going to decrease fuel efficiency.
14. Use high-quality fuel using low-quality fuel can cause sludge in your fuel injectors.
15. Keep warm up time to a minimum get off the choke ASAP.
16. Motorcycles run best when their engines are maintained, and that includes making sure the air filter is clean, the spark plugs are fresh, the fuel filter is free, and the timing/valves are adjusted.
