There may be an intermittent issue developing with your voltage regulator / charging system. Eventually it will fail if not corrected or replaced. Once a lead-acid battery measures 11.7 volts (open circuit) or 10.5 volts (load connected), the battery is considered fully discharged.

You were pretty close to the discharged threshold and if you stopped when it read 11.8 volts, I doubt the battery would have been able to crank over the starter. You should have the charging system checked out.

Sat unused for 3years,new battery, oil change spark plug, air filter, started right up,battery some how died after trying to restart within 15 min.any ideas what might be happening

once the motor starts it would only draw from the battery for electric deck clutch if you have one or headlights if you have any. There will be a black wire coming out from under the flywheel, in that wire there will be a bumb half again bigger then wire only about 3/4 inch long, it is a diode covered with heat shrink , this allows for the electricity to come out of the charging system into the battery but not back the other way. So if the diode has gone bad and allowing the current to go both directions this might be your problem. charge your battery, start your mower, you will need a cheap ohm meter $10, with the tractor running full throttle touch the red test lead to positive + and black to neg, meter set at dc current it should read 13 to 15 volts when engine is shut off it should be 12+ volt if it is under that say 11 volt you have a draw some where,

How do i get rid of engine code 13

Tony, take the new belt off and start over. You've not set the valve timing properly. Get the #1 piston up to top dead center on compression stroke first. Now remove the belt and get the crankshaft in proper position, THEN put the belt back on NOT moving the crank or cam pully when applying the tensioner. Before you put the covers and other stuff back on and in your way of sight, turn the engine over 360 degrees and see if the marks come back to proper position. Should be good now. Put the accessories back on and done.

Screen goes black unless the comuter is on charge, although it's fully charged

Right click on the battery icon in the taskbar (Normally located near he clock, bottom right corner of the screen).

In the sub-menu that pops up, select "Power Options".

Next to the power plan you are running, to the right of it, click on "Change plan settings".

Scroll down to and click on "Display" and you will see the computers setting options for both "On battery" and "Plugged in" with the screen turn off time in drop down boxes.

You need to select what time the screen turns off in when no user input is detected for that time. I usually select 5 mins for battery.

Hope this helps, and wishing you a Merry Christmas. ;)

I tried to charge my car battery with a Chicago Electric charger model 66783. I followed the directions for charging the battery in the vehicle. After selecting the charge rate of 10 AMPs, the ammeter...

Relax, the charger is working fine. What it is doing is charging the battery to 15.5V. During this time, the "charge complete" LED is off, and the current meter shows the needle going to the right. When 15.5 volts is reached, the current is shut off, the needle goes back to the left, and the LED goes on. When the battery voltage drops to 13 volts, the current goes on again, etc. At the beginning, with a very depleted battery, the needle will be towards the right, then as the battery gets charged close to full capacity, the needle will bounce back and forth because the charger is feeding current in short pulses. Towards the very end of charging, the needle will stay longer and longer at the left end (the LED will be ON), and spend less and less time to the right (LED will be ON for longer periods, and "blink" OFF less and less). Finally, at full charge, the LED will stay ON, the needle won't make excursions to the right, etc.

Charging issues

Probably yes.But to be sure for your measurements put the battery on a charger for 12 hours to be fully charged. When you take it out of the charger it should be reading 12,5V even after 20 hours you have take it off the charger. Then put it on the bike again and measure the current on it's poles in 3-4000 rpm with your high beams on.It should be reading 13,5-14,5V.If not then renew the regulator/rectifier.

1) Make sure your terminal is on the main screen: “Swipe Customer Card”. If the terminal does not say this then hit the CANCEL button until it does.
2) Press FUNCTION, 10, ENTER.
3) The terminal will prompt for a password. Type in 0000 ENTER.
4) The terminal should prompt you to enter the date. Type in the date in MMDDYY format then hit ENTER. The terminal then prompt you for the time. Enter the time in HHMM format, in military time. For example, 3PM would be 1500.
5) The terminal should automatically go back to the “Swipe Customer Card” screen. Check to make sure the date and time have been updated (it should be displayed on the main screen). If they have not, then repeat these steps up to two more times to make the change stick.
