Hi and welcome to FixYa,

The voltage on the green wire must be pulsating when cranking/starting the bike, not steady. Confirm by similarly testing the voltage on the black wire on the left ignition coil. If the green still reads a constant voltage, then the CDI is faulty; to be more specific, most likely that the switching tansistor inside the CDI that drives the right ignition coil has shorted.

Initially, check:

  • black wire from the ignition coil that goes to the CDI;
  • check the terminal/pin of the black wire at the connector before the CDI;
  • check the 4 wires from the pickup coil, their connectors and their connections to the CDI.

Thrue the clutch cable and the adjuster nut thare at the clutch hub... Adjust the one at the clutch hub first then take up slack at the handle ..

Hi ihave 2001 Silverado 1500 the 4 cylinders of one side is no power??


Check INJ - A an INJ - B fuse's both are 15 amp both are in the under hood fuse box . These power the ignition coils . may have a blown fuse . Also powers the injectors .

Did you replace the ignition control module, it is called the "TFI"? That is the most common source of a no start. There is also a problem with the ignition starter switches coming apart and causes a loss of power to the ignition system.

Spark Plug Wires - Removal & Installation

3.5L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    NOTE Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot. Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the wire could be damaged.
  2. Remove the intake manifold cover, if required.
  3. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
  4. Disconnect the left side spark plug wires from the ignition coil.
  5. Remove the spark plug wire clips from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor bracket and the heater inlet and outlet pipe tab.
  6. Remove the spark plug wire assembly.
  7. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clips and remove the appropriate spark plug wire.
  8. Disconnect the right side spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
  9. Disconnect the right side spark plugs from the ignition coils.
  10. Remove the spark plug wire assembly.
  11. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clip and remove the appropriate spark plug wire.
To install:
  1. Install the spark plug wire assembly.
  2. Connect the right side spark plugs to the ignition coils.
  3. Connect the right side spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
  4. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clip and install the appropriate spark plug wire.
  5. Install the spark plug wire assembly.
  6. Connect the left side spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
  7. Connect the left side spark plug wires to the ignition coil.
  8. Install the spark plug wire clips to the MAP sensor bracket and the heater inlet and outlet pipe tab.
  9. If replacing only one plug wire, open the retaining clips and install the appropriate spark plug wire.
  10. Install the intake manifold cover, if required.

Re fitting a Bosch GT40R-T ignition coil to a Ford V8


The ballast resistor only weekens the power to the contact points while the engine is starting after that the secondary wiring "is" a built in resistor. I suggest you use the ballast or you'll be changing a lot of point sets.Just out of curiousity, why would you want to convert back to an older and proven obsolete type system?
