Oil leak near oil filter area

2004

I have a leak that appears to come from around the oil filter area. I changed all the fluids and replaced the filter and it appears to have gotten worse. I did all the proper cleaning of the area, filling the filter with oil, oiling the oring on the filter, tightening 1/2 turn etc. Any ideas!?

Is there any damage cracks or scoring around the oring seat?

no cracking that I can see. I'm thinking that it may have loosened a bit when i replaced the old filter. It became worse after the oil change.

Bad oil leak and its not the head gaskets

Clean the area so there is no oil on it. Shine a bright light on the area and start the engine. Try to find where the oil is coming out of the engine. The leak is either there or just above it. Look in the manual to see what gasket or pipe is near there.

What are comon places for oil leaks on a 1994 v6 camaro

Some models have an adapter that goes between the oil filter and the block. The oil pressure sending unit is nearby also.
You may have to spray clean the area to find the leak.

I HAVE A 2003 MURANO WITH 145,000 MILES. AN OIL LEAK IS JUST STARTING NEAR THE OIL FILTER AREA. IS THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH THE CAUSE? IF SO WEAR IS IT LOCATED ON THIS 3.5 ENGINE?

Theres no way to know if the oil pressure switch is the cause, you are there to look at it, I'm not. But I would check real close the OIL COOLER. Its the housing between the oil filter and the block. There is a seal (o ring) between that housing and the engine block and I would suspect that seal leaking. Get it from the dealer, its cheap. Part number B1304-34U00

Oil leaking around or near the oil filter

Might have to take the filter off wipe the O-ring thats on the filter clean and the area where the filter will be going on to the block. Probably has some dirt where the filter seats on the block.

HAVE A OIL LEAK COMING FROM ABOVE THE OIL FILTER.

Has the oil filter just been replaced? Sometimes the old gasket sticks to the mounting area, causing leakage if the new filter is installed on top of it. It is also possible the gasket was for some reason missing on a new filter. Let me know if this is not the cause, I'll try to help further.

2004 Murano has an oil leak near the oil filter mounting backet.

The oil filter mounts on an oil cooler housing that has an o-ring on the block side of it. The housing is held in place by the double ended connector bolt that the oil filter screws onto one side and the other goes into the block. This should be tighten to 37 ft/lbs. prior to installation of the oil filter. It may be loose or the o-ring might need replacement.

Oil leaking on front right side of the car near oil pan and oil filter

You need to clean the engine and then run the vehicle while watching the area. The most common failure is the oil sending unit located near the oil filter. I have also seen a leak develop between the oil pump housing, which is mounted directly behind the hamonic balencer and the engine block.
