SOURCE: Hi,i was told my lc4 640,2005 would hold 3.1

It holds 2.1 liters, including the frame. Maybe you didn't drain the oil from the frame.

How do i remove starter from a harley 1340 evo.

If it is a 2004:

First remove the seat. THEN unthread the bolt and remove the black battery negative cable from the battery negative (-) terminal. THEN remove the primary chaincase cover. THEN bend thetab on the lockplate away from the head of the jackshaft bolt. THEN while holding the pinion gear to prevent rotation, remove the jackshaft bolt with the lockplate and thrust washer. THEN from the right side of motorcycle, remove the starter front mounting screw with lockwasher. THEN Remove the rear mounting screw with lockwasher (and the battery negative cable ring terminal). THEN remove the Keps nut from the stud of the bracket tab and remove the exhaust support bracket. THEN pull back rubber the boot and remove the flange nut from the starter post. THEN remove the main power and battery positive cable ring terminals from the starter post. THEN depress the external latch and pull the solenoid connector from the top of the starter housing. THEN locate the oil filler plug/dipstick on the right side of the motorcycle at the top of the transmission case. To remove the oil filler plug pull steadily while moving the plug back and forth. THEN remove the starter from the right side of the motorcycle, carefully sliding it through the space between the exhaust pipe and side cover. (If necessary, remove the allen screw and decorative chrome cover to facilitate starter removal.) THEN, if necessary remove the coupling from the starter motor output shaft, if necessary.

BEFORE starter disassembly, perform all bench tests on the assembled starter.

Basically reinstall in reverse order.

1997 harley davidson 1340 evo engine has no oil pressure

MY 1995 1340 evo roadking oil light stays on at idle when the engine is hot, I've chenged the oil and filter using genuine harley davidson, changed the oil pressure switch and even done a full engine flush with 4 litres of flush oil which as made the oil light stay on until 1200 RPM's, before i flushed the system the light would go off at a round 1000/1100 rmp's.

I own a custom built motorbike (from tyres up) with a Harley Davidson 1340 Evo stock unit engine. It is kick start and I want to convert it to electric start. I have been told that I would require a 5...

Yes, you can put an electric start on the bike. I've seen plenty of customs with Evo engines, four speed transmissions and electric start. You'll have to change the primary setup of the bike. Does your outer clutch basket have a ring gear on it for a starter to turn? If not, you may have to change your clutch as well. The starter bolts to the primary plate. Even the 1965 Panhead with four speed transmission had an electric starter. I'm sure you can do it.

Good Luck

How to install a starter on a harley heritage springer flsts

First, disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Then, drain the oil from your primary. Remove the floor boards, shifter or anything else you need to remove in to remove the outer primary cover. Remove the outer primary cover. Remove the small bolt holding the starter jackshaft in and remove the jackshaft. There is a coupler that connects the jackshaft to the starter motor. If it comes out with the jackshaft, mark it so that you know which way it goes back in. If you cannot get the jackshaft out. continue on and once you get the starter bolts loose, you should be able to work the jackshaft out. When you go to reinstall the starter, make sure you put the jackshaft back in before you tighten the starter bolts.

Now, on the right side of the bike, remove the exhaust system or whatever might be in the way of getting the starter off. Remove the bolts holding the oil tank but don't remove the tank. All you need is a little room that you get by lifting the tank up a bit. There are two large bolts holding the start onto the inner primary. Remove these two bolts and unplug the single wire going to the solenoid and the battery cable from the starter. Now, you can work the starter out from under the oil tank and off of the bike.
