84 Tri Zinger Trike Carb

I put a replacement carb on. It starts ok but when I switch to run from start on the throttle the idle jumps up so high the trike takes off. The idle screw on the carb has no effect. Help.

The air/fuel screws won't have any effect on the top end. That would be governed by the main jet. Did you install the Boyseen Reeds? If this is a new addition it could be the problem. Another thing could be the fuel level in the carburetor bowl. When you tore down the carb it is possible the float got out of adjustment. You could drop the bowl and see if the fuel level is correct. If not, bend the tab on the float to adjust it.

Fuel starved, carb should have an idle adjustment which sounds like it is fine. Look for the second adjustment

I have a 2007 Suzuki c-90 Boulevard Trike. Where is the idle screw located on it? My idle suddenly starting getting to high.

The idle screw will be located on the carb but it is unlikely to require adjusting. The rise in idle speed is probably the throttle cable sticking slightly, perhaps due to lack of maintenance, or it could be indicative of another fuelling problem.

Please check the following:
- Throttle control cable adjustment.
- Foreign matter in throttle plate.
- Fuel line clogged.
- Water contamination in fuel.
- Vacuum leaks in the intake manifold or at the carburetor.
- Carburetor base gasket or seal.

- PCV valve.
- Valve clearance.

Starts and idles ok.stalls when throttle is squeezed

You might want to adjust the high side of the carb. but before doing that turn the high side jet to the right and count the turns so if it make no difference when you adjust it you can put it back to the point you started. If it won't adjust and run right then you will probably need to rebuild the carb. YouTube.com have videos on how to do this and it is not hard. Good luck

2001 yamaha ttr 125 when started it runs at full throttle without me touching the throttle

I would check the throttle adjustment screw on the throttle assembly on handle bars. Be sure it is not screwed all the way in for max throttle. You can also check the carb and be sure that the idle screw is not adjusted for high idle as well. There may be an adjustment screw on carb for the cable stop.

84 dodge 318 sluggish and laks power at throttle up whats wrong?

If adjusting the air valves on the carb doesn't help. you likely need to have the carburater cleaned. The air adjustment needles are located at the base of the carb at the front. Turn them out until you reach high idle, and then in again, about one full turn. If that doesn't help, you'll have to put a carb kit in, and have it cleaned.

My Ryobu RYO8554 only runs when it is in the carb lever is in the start position. ANy use of the throttle kills the engine. been that way since I bought it. Thanks Jim

Hi, if you have the lever in start that means the carb is choked. If you are only able to run the engine when the choke is on, then it is starving for fuel. First, make absolutely sure you have the right fuel mixture, then try to start the engine. If the mix is correct, then your carb is out of adjustment. Find the two screws that adjust the high and low idle on the carb. Turn the low idle one quarter turn counter clockwise and try to start the engine again. This adjustment will allow for more fuel to deliver into the cylinder. (adjust more if needed). The high idle may also be out of adjustment, so tune this screw with the throttle on high (and running) until you hear the transition between the high rumbling sound and the high even sound this point is you high idle. Good luck
