Where is camshaft position sensor on 2002 Pontiac grand am se ecotec 2.2

This vehicle does not have a cam sensor .The ICM provides a synthesized cam signal to the PCM based on these inputs. The PCM uses the cam signal to synchronize fuel injection.

The powertrain control module (PCM) supplies a signal on each of the ignition control (IC) timing control circuits to the ignition control module (ICM). The ICM fires the correct ignition coil at the correct time based on the signals. The ICM detects if cylinder 1 or cylinder 3 is on the compression stroke by sensing the secondary voltage and polarity of each side of the ignition coil. The ICM detects this voltage with sensing circuitry integrated into each ignition coil. The higher voltage is on the compressing cylinder. This is called compression sense ignition. The ICM provides a synthesized cam signal to the PCM based on these inputs. The PCM uses the cam signal to synchronize fuel injection.
This system consists of the following circuits:
• An ignition voltage circuit
• A ground circuit
• A camshaft position (CMP) sensor signal circuit
• An IC timing control circuit for cylinders #1 and #4
• An IC timing control B circuit for cylinders #2 and #3

DTC P0340
This ignition system does not use a conventional camshaft position (CMP) sensor that detects valve train position. The ignition controls module (ICM) detects when #1 or #3 cylinder has fired on the cylinders compression stroke using sensing circuitry integrated within each coil. The sensing circuit detects the polarity and the strength of the secondary voltage output, the higher output is always at the event cylinder. The ignition control module (ICM) sends a CMP signal to the powertrain control module (PCM) based on the voltage difference between the event and waste cylinder firing energy. This system is called compression sense ignition. By monitoring the CMP and crankshaft position (CKP) signals, the PCM can accurately time the operation of the fuel injectors. If the PCM receives an intermittent CMP signal from the ICM, the CMP Resync Counter on the scan tool will increment. When the PCM cannot use the information from the CMP signal, a DTC will set. DTC P0341 sets when the PCM detects too many CMP Resyncs within a certain amount of time.

2002 S 4.5l. How do I set timing?

I am assuming you are referring to the cam chain timing, not ignition timing. The ignition timing is non-adjustable. If you don't have a good repair manual, I would not venture into cam timing.

How do you set the timing on 06 dakota 3.7 lit.

Are we talking cam timing or ignition timing? Cam timing you will have to line the dots up on the cam and crank gears when installing the timing chain. Ignition timing is controlled by the computer for the most part, you just have to make sure that the rotor of the distributor is lined up with the number 1 spark plug wire on the distributor cap when the engine is at Top Dead Center (TDC) of the compression stroke of the number 1 cylinder.

How do i set the timing in my 95 sonoma with an older carberated 350 from start without taking timing cover off?

There are two kinds of timing, cam timing, and ignition timing. You don't adjust cam timing, it is set when the timing chain is installed. The timing chain cover is supposed to have a pointer welded to it with marks that line up with a mark on the harmonic balancer. (depending on the year of you engine these marks veri in appearance. Ignition timing is set while the engine is running with a strobe light that is triggered by the number one spark plug. On this engine (if it's stock) around 8-10 degrees BTDC. The ignition timing advances with cetrifical weights inside the distributor as well as a vacuum diaphragm. If either of these fail you will have a performance issue with a lack of power, and acceleration. If you are concerned about the cam gear being worn out yes they do wear out. Chevy made the gear teeth on the cam gear out of nylon to make then quieter, the replacement gears are usually cast iron. If you are thinking about changing the timing gears, the crank gear has to be pulled off with a puller, a lot of guys don't bother since it doesn't wear like the cam gear.

What is the correct name for cam timer the sportster 883xlh, year 1995

if you're talking about the sensor that triggers your ignition, we call it the "Ignition timing sensor". It is triggered by a cup with small notches in it afixed to the end of the #2 camshaft in the engine.

If you're asking about how do you time one cam to the other, there are four cams in a Sportster. Each cam has a mark or set of marks on the drive gear. You align the cams relative to each other by aligning the marks in the proper sequence. We call the marks, cam timing marks.

Won't start - timing procedure

Not sure if you mean ignition timing or cam timing, ignition's not adjustable, cam timing should have a 't' mark on the magneto flywheel, usually on hondas there's a large & small screw in bung in the magneto cover, the mark can be seen through the small one, with it lined up to the mark the cam bolts should either be horizontal or vertical to the head, with the cam lobes both facing evenly downwards away from the rockers.

Installed timing belt and put everyting back but know my toyota runs rough, Have cheaked many times if timing was wrong. but its is, what can it be ???

You need to verify that the cams are timed, Yous ay you checked timing, do you mean cam timing or ignition timing. the ignition timing is based on the left cam, if the right cam is off, the ign timing will be ok. if you ck compression on left side, and its different (lower)on the right side the cam timing is off. this is assuming you have put evrerything back in correctly.

How do you set the timing on a honda xr600r

Technically you don't; the ignition timing is not natively adjustable and neither is the cam timing. To make the ignition timing adjustable requires modifying the pulse generator under the clutch cover. Chaning cam timing requires the installation of a slotted cam gear and the use of a degree wheel to set it properly.

Just rebuilt bottom and top end cant fiqure out how to set timing

The ignition timing is CDI ignition, pre-set at the factory. You can't change it. The valve timing is the only timing you can do and that is done by lining up the static cam timing mark and the timing mark on the flywheel.

If you simply installed the cam chain on the gear without paying attention to the position of the crank and the position of the cam then the valves are likely not opening and closing at the correct time. Too far off and the piston can hit the valves and bend them and possibly crack the valve guides.
Check a service manual. Cam chain timing procedures will be shown in the manual.

Need to know how to set timing on 1995 honda del sol d15

position of distributor = ignition timing
position of cam in relation to crank = cam timing

You should be able to from before to past the red mark while the distributor is within the the limits of travel the bolts that hold it on allow. If you cant -- then the most likely reason is that your cam timing is off by a tooth.

before you can set ignition timing, you need to have the correct cam timing.
no amount of ignition timing can compensate for incorrect cam timing.
You need to make sure that when the cam is at TDC, so is the crank.
until you have this resolved the marks on you crank pulley are meaningless, in other words you will not be able to set the ignition timing.
sorry this is hard to explain
