SOURCE: having trouble getting the gears to select down

Since the shifting was okay prior to splitting the cas, chances are one or both of the positioning pins fell out. If this happened, the cases are not lined up correctly.

SOURCE: Leaking crankshaft seal

The manual on the 750 says put new seals on the crank as you install it, and I believe they have a locating lip on the seal that fits in a groove in the cases. which means a split.

I have trimmed the lip off the seal, and installed them with loctite master gasket, the old seal is hard to remove due to the lip

G'day, I'm wondering if a aermacchi tx 125 crank seals can be replaced without splitting engine? Can't seem to get to the clutch side seal, any help please????! Guy

Hi, Guy you do not have to split the cases for this scenario you need a service/owners manual if you can not find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Harley despair not, for a mere $10 you can download another one. Could it be the inpulse pipe in the husky 50 rancher making it rave out some times

Certainly a fuel starvation issue, the impulse is a small rubber boot in the cylinder which seals a plastic tube in the back of the carb housing, if the boot has split it will cause problems, there is also a rubber indudction tube above it, make sure this is not split, fuel starvation can be caused by many things, blocked fuel filter in the tank, crack, split or bad fitting fuel hose, dirt in the carb inner screen, air leaks through crank seals or gaskets, lose carbs, incorrectly set up carb screws.

Quad wont start got spark got fuel and got compression

If it's a 2 stroke you have a crank seal out. It can have compression but won't have vacuum, and it won't run. Sometimes the seal can be replaced on the magneto side without splitting the cases, but I'd rebuild the entire motor and replace the crank bearings along with the seals. Good luck!

How do i change the crank seals on my 1982 suzuki RM125 can it be done without spliting the case thanks Scott

Take a look at a new set of seals, if they do not have a raised lip around the outer sealing surface, you should be able to gently pry out the old seals and press in the new ones. If they do have the raised O-ring style lip around the outside edge, you will have to split the cases to put the seals in. Some people replace raised lip seals with flat outside edge seals, they may not seal as well, and they have a greater chance of popping out, but they are easy to install. The real problem here is prying out the old raised lip seals with out damaging the case. If you have to split the case to get them out you may as well put in the good seals. At any rate, if the seals have flat outside edges you do not have to split the cases.

Should there be oil in the alernater caseing

Hi Fred

In short.... NO... there should not be oil in the alternator. You will have a failing seal on the output shaft from engine to the alternator. These seals can sometimes be changed without splitting the crankcases, but sometimes not. You will need a puller to get the rotor off and access to the shaft/seal to see what is going on.

This may be a job for a repair shop if you have not done this sort of work before. There are some tools required, and the engine will need to be removed from the frame if a new seal cannot be fitted without splitting the crank case.

My 1969 ts 250 is burning crank case oil. Must be the crankshaft seal is out? Can I replce the seal without spliting the crankcase joint?

If your motorcycle is burning oil this indicates worn top end components. A leaking crank shaft seal would be leaking onto the ground. Yes you can replace the seal without splitting the cases, with the right tools.

I HAVE A 1999 WARRIOR 350 CRANKS EASY ,IDLE RUN BUT CUTS OUT WHEN YOU GIVE IT GAS .IT ACT LIKE A LIMIT.ANY CLUES.THANKS

that sound like a split pipe on a vaccum pipe to your carbs to me or a pin hole sucking in to much air when you give it some revs check for perished lines or a bad joint to the carbs from the air box.

How to remove a crank on yz 125 after engine casing is split?

When you split the case (depending on how you split it) the crank will stay in the left case half or the right case half. Whichever doesn't matter. Just take a rubber mallet and knock it out of the half it is in. Now would be a good time to replace the outer bearing and seal behind the front sprocket. Also replace the shift shaft seal.
