Coil or ignition module most likely. download the factory service manual for it so you can trouble shoot it - you can also check out badweatherbikers - they have a good buell tubeframe section there.

Sounds like drumbanger is on the right track. If this bike ran ok in the past and you have not made exhaust or intake changes, the low speed jet may be partially plugged or you have developed an intake air leak. If this problem has always been there or you have changed something, consider going up a size or 2 on the low speed jet.

is your bjke water cooled could have aproblem with that-its gettin hot-if air cooled carb may neede cleaning. the clutch is ok but indicates to me that that carb needs a low speed jet adjust also-do u have a clymer manual!!

I have a 99 X1 #170/250 it does same thing when its cold. I put the buell race module still does it took it in and had motor turn apart and found nothing bike runs great when its warm you need to let it warm up it should start to fire
