Question about 1997 Suzuki GSF 1200 Bandit S

Open Question

Please help me i have a 1997 suzuki bandit 1200. the bike has developed a strange electrical issue, sometimes when i am riding the bike will cut out like i hit the killswitch, or turned off the igniti

Problem only happens for a min a two then bike could run fine for an hour or five min before it will happen again. also I noticed this after a rain where the bike was used. After this rain the back light on my gas gauge stopped working along with the light that indicated that the high beam is on. The button that starts the bike will also no longer work. I had to rig a button that directly connects the points on the starter relay together. which tells me that that part is not the problem and that the starter is good. please help me this is my only transportation for my wife and I and I cant afford to keep it in a shop

Christmas comes early. Go to the site below and you can download a free PDF service manual. Yours is the 1st one in the "Suzuki GSF" section of the list. 4 or 5 below that is a PDF parts diagram with part numbers.

http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp Most manuals are in English but some are not. There is no way to be sure without doing the download. You can always delete it if in a foreign language.

Top rating due for this answer! Thanks Asel :)

Hi, Phill for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for Suzuki, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

Hi, Anonymous I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. If you are a little short on "DRACHMA" and a Dealership is not on your list of fun places to visit then perhaps the list below will help soothe your worried mind so you can make an informed decision.

Gsf 600 bandit starts and idles but cuts out when pulling away

This could be ignition related or a fuel problem or even a combination. If you not mechanically minded you are probably better off taking it to a shop. If you would like to try some things first I would recommend changing the fuel filter and the spark plugs(make sure to gap them properly) if that doesn't work. After that it gets more complicated and the shop is your best best.

Gas tank pressure in bandit 1200 1997

Check out this site,

I hope it helps you to some degree.

Actually the fill nozzle at the pump is supposed to vent back pressure of the vapors.. When filling my bike, I hold the boot of the nozzle back so it doesn't block the vapors and kick off the fill process. Good Luck.

unlikely. If u don't work on your bike the best thing u can do is take it back to whoever did the plugs and tell them to fix it.
