Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, determine if there is a clicking sound when the START button is pressed. The click is significant. If there is, this indicates that the starting relay is engaging but for some reason, the starter motor is not cranking. This could either indicate a faulty starter relay (particularly the contacts) or a faulty starter motor (specifically, the carbon brushes). To determine which:

  • with the side covers off, expose the starter relay particularly the 2 large terminals;
  • have somebody start the bike normally using the key and button start switch;
  • determine if indeed the clicking is coming from the starter relay;
  • while the start button is still pressed, jump the 2 big terminals;
  • if the engine cranks, then the internal contacts of the starter relay are corroded or burned;
  • if the engine will not crank, then the starter motor is faulty.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: hard to start kawaski barako 175

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

A known common issue with the Barako with either the kick or electric version specially when cold, in the early hours of the morning or if have not been used for some time. A couple of initial ideas to try:

  • leave the petc0ck open (even overnight);
  • before starting, twist the throttle a couple of times;
  • use the choke;
  • you may be interested to explore the possibility of modding the carb with one from an Eliminator.

In most instances, tyagaan lang yan but of course is a pain pag nagmamadali.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

It sounds like your battery is no good. have it load tested a good battery under a load shouldn't drop below 11 volts. if you starter button is only dimming the light it is a good guess that your getting power to the swtich and the starter motor but the battery dosen't have a juice to turn the motor.
good luck

My kinroad xt125gy wont start on electric start

providing the battery is fully charged and in good condition the starter motor should operate if you pull in either of the brakes with the side stand up a press the start button if it doesnt then its either
both stop switches are faulty
a faulty start button
a faulty starter relay
a faulty starter motor
a bad connection on the battery terminals
a bad connection on the starter motor
the starter relay is usually under the right hand seat panel there are two smaller wires on it one green (earth)
and one yellow/red wire live trigger feed from the start button the other two larger red live wires are
one from the live terminal of the battery
the other to the starter motor
so you cannot find the starter relay follow the live wire from the battery and you will find it.

2006 jeep liberty turn switch on and have power.starter and battery gd but wont turn over wont even click

the tests are all easy,
check fuses first, on all electric fails, starter ,charge and EFI are all electric systems.

super easy.
  1. jumper cable cranked with donor running car work?
  2. yes, battery is dead, or only discharged, charge it work?
  3. yes jumps but charge fails, bingo battery toast.
  4. so the jumper fails. in #1 , all that is a bad starting system. (not a part, the system)
  5. clean battery lugs. check fuses, and then hot wire the starter solenoid lug (dinky lug ,not huge one) (in park and wheels chocked keys off)
  6. ok that fails the starter is bad.
  7. ok that works. so the KEY line is dead. try starting in neutral yet?> bingo works, bad PRNDL switch on tranny side.
  8. the KEY line can be interrupted with some alarms, on a jeep it has Immobilizer that cuts fuel not cranking. so.... PRNDL switch bad or the key switch is self .
  9. Using any voltmeter to do the checks is a WIN. 12.6vdc is a charged battery is yours 12.6v rested/???????????

Jake, if your ignition is electronic, you may not have enough system voltage to run the starter and the ignition at the same time.
Try with a jump from another vehicle. Likely it will start.
Try bringing the battery to a full and complete charge, water up first,
then retest starting. Some units just have to have a perfect battery and state of charge.

1985 nissan 300z wont crank

When you switch the ignition wont start or crank, right? but did you hear a tikiting sound? if you do then the problem was your starter, either the solenoid in your starter was faulty or the starter itself might be grounder or shorted.Replace the solenoid if deffective or starter but before you do that check your battery.
Next is to check your electrical line from the ignition to the starter and also from your battery going to the starter, if there is a connectivity it means your line is good.
Next you said it has to be push to start and run but when you shut it off it wont start? It means your alternator was not charging properly, so it was deffective, the battery lost its power. replace or repair your alternator.
Hope this will help you, good luck!!!

Hyosung GV 650 wont start. Battery is fully charged and starter don't even click when trying to start?

This will be either the starter solenoid is faulty or the starter motor needs replacing.Have the solenoid checked before removing the starter motor.

I have 2003 expedition that wont start,, it already has a new battery and starter..?

If have replaced the battery and starter then most likely your problem may be coming from the alternator. The alternator is in charge of providing a constant charge to the battery for all electrical components to run. If that does not work then try checking your fuel pressure to see if the fuel pump is not supplying enough fuel for ignition. Spray starter fluid inside the intake and if it starts long enough then you know that your problem is not fuel related.

Hope this Helps!

My electric start wont work now,after my bike was taken off the road for repair the electric start started to click & now wont work,need help to sort it

sounds like your battery is dead. You may have enough volts to turn on lights, but not enough amps to turn the starter motor. put a volt meter on the battery and see how far the volts drop when you try to start. my guess is too low. Replace the battery, or have it tested; it probably wont take a charge.

It just clicks when i try to start it, wont turn over

ureCheck battery charge it should have 12 to 13 volts if it is fully charged.Check all electrical connections from battery to starter and ground wires. Check the solinoid ,it must make a good electrical connection internally to make the starter motor run.If you are getting at least 12 volts to the starter motor and it still wont turn the starter may be bad. Also be sure that the engine can be rotated normally.
