Question about Yamaha YZF-R125 Motorcycles
My yzf r125 was put away in my hut for about 5 weeks over the ice period and since i have brought it out it starts fine the first time then idles slowly and dies after 4 or 5 mins i restart it and it dies straight away and then wont start again , what is the problem is there dampness getting to the spark plug or is it something worse.
Hi, Sebkirk and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Vacuum line from the petcock to intake manifold cracked.
5. Float needle and seat sticking.
6. Float level too low.
7. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
8. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
9. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
10. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
11. Slow fuel jet clogged.
12. Faulty fuel pump.

Check the intake manifold/s, even a small leak will make it run poor. Being stored for five years then putting it into use, you may have a blocked main jet. Sea-foam is a great product and I would have used that product to store the bike but not to get it running. It is slow acting so it doesnt work like carb cleaner.
