TOP TEN WAYS TO MAINTAIN BIKE

YOU DON'T have to have the mechanical know-how of a MotoGP technician to perform simple home-servicing tasks; some decent tools and a little common sense are all you need to keep your bike in tip-top shape.
Ideally, get hold of a workshop manual for your machine for a better understanding of how each task should be carried out. Most will give pictures detailing each part of the process; a good manual will also list the tools you'll need to complete the job. Find yours here.
Like a chef's knives, using quality tools are half the battle to a successful job, so avoid using the underseat toolkit if you can.
Obviously, if you're not 100 per cent comfortable working on your own bike then ask a knowledgeable mate to watch over you.
TYRES - Pressures
When was the last time you checked your bike's tyre pressures? It should be done on a weekly basis, but many of us forget to keep an eye on one of the most vital parts of our bike's set-up.
Underinflated tyres tend to affect handling and braking as the lack of pressure means the tyre wall isn't firm enough to properly cope with the forces exterted on it. Overinflation can also result in a deterioration in handling, as well as a reduced contact patch with the road. This can result in a lack of grip under braking.
Use a quality pressure gauge to accurately check your bike's tyre pressures. Consult the owner's manual for the correct pressure. Remember, your tyres may need more pressure if you regularly ride with a pillion passenger. Always check your pressures when they're cold.
It's also worth checking the condition and tread depth of the tyres while you're at it

This sound like tyre deformation, usually attributed to poor tyre quality or degradation of tyre structure, You should change them as soon as possible as they could become dangerous

I'm having a problem with my polo classic 1.6 (99-02 model), it always pulls to the left thought it's been aligned...

it could be that the brake caliper on the left hand side is sticking, jack the front of the vehicle up & spin the front wheels by hand & see if one is harder to turn than the other , if they are both the same then it isn't the caliper, check that both tyres are the same brand & tread pattern, this can sometimes make a difference, also tyre pressure, it could also be one of the rear wheels causing the problem, you need to check them to, if all these things are OK you may have to take the vehicle to ma front end specialist to see if they can solve the problem......hope this helps......cheers.

there should be a sticker on the inside of the drivers door for the tire pressures and if you have the owners manual it will tell you the best places to jack up the car. often right next to the jack there is also another sticker that shows the correct points to jack up the car

It's a Tyres Monitoring Pressure (TMP) system ECU (Electronic Control Unit) temporary faulty. Run for few miles above 30 mph, and all the temporary faults of Tyres Monitoring Pressure (TMP) system ECU will dissappear themselves. Also you can access & erase the TMP system ECU for all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) memored, if you will connect a VW / Audi diagnostic equipment to the data link connector of the car.
