Question about Motorcycles
(2004 BMW 1150 GS Adventure 28k miles) When starting my bike from cold, it cranks very slowly, just as though the battery is flat. Sometimes the cranking process stops altogether and takes so much power out of the system, the clock re-sets to 0000. I have renewed the battery and although for the first few starts it seemed to improve, the engine still does not turn as quickly as other bikes I have had previously. I leave the batery on an overnight trickle charger, but that doesn't really seem to help as much as it should. I am always left wondering whether the bike will start at all. Any thoughts/suggestions wil be very much appreciated
Remove and repair the starter motor
problem bushes on the armature shaft allowing the armature to touch the field poles

Check your owners manual for location of your fuse box. You will probably find connections for accessories. If not make sure you use an inline fuse on the positive connection and then ground to the frame.....Good Luck and Nice Bike!

I have just found my 30 amp fuse blown on my daytona , this prevents the alternator working , it was reading 10.9v before I changed the 30 amp fuse , now it reads 14.5 volts , I think I blew it as I didnt know how to put the alarn into service mode and left the ignition on , anyway I am hoping its just that , 3 heat up/cool down cycles and the engine management light should go out

Sounds like the oil is thick. Do you know what weight oil was installed last? If there was 40 weight put in and its getting colder out it get thicker. You can change the oil to a 30 weight and change the filter to see if that helps.

If it works fine at lower rpm, it could be a fuel delivery issue. Is there a valve that lets gas out the tank? There's likely a screen that keeps tank crud from getting into the valve assembly and going into your carbs. Empty the tank, remove the valve, clean the screen.

Sounds a lot like a failing battery. The starter's pulling enough power that you aren't getting spark. You could try using jumper cables from a car battery, see if you get spark when cranking. Be careful! It's way easy to short stuff out with those jumpers.
