Triac or SCR? Either way for the discrete 3 terminal device, go with a 1000 volt 8 Amp device. A Triac can replace an SCR in some circuits. Depending on triggering source, sometimes a "Sensitive gate" type is needed for trigger pulsea that are only about 2microAmp.

If you have the specific specs for the discrete device, you can scroll through the products available at Digikey http://www.digikey.com and enter Triac or SCR into the search criteria, and then you can narrow the choices down by the filters.

Can i use sunpak auto 30 DX thyristor to nikon d7000?

According to this list the 30DX's trigger voltage is borderline for use with digital cameras. You may be able to use it with no ill effects, or it may fry your camera. It depends on the particular unit.

Pincussin not work

Without a model number, it is hard to decide which form of advice you will need.
So for the very old, Thyristor type E-W units, replace the GTO Thyristor.
For newer sets check for dry joints around the E/W output transistor. It is mounted on a heat sink next to the frame output stage.

My ceiling fan lights flicker, whether or not they are dimmed. Can this be fixed?

Surely this is the fault in the controller circuit. possibble that the thyristor which is the switch and voltage regulator is not working correct. The bias to the thyristor is not sufficient to keep it in correct mode. Can be the thyristor itself or the bias circuit.

Sunpack 544 flash

There can be more than one reasons for that.
1. Broken wire at sync terminal.
2. Electronic sync issue:
2.1. Faulty sync thyristor (CR02).
2.2. Faulty trigger transformer
2.3. Any other passive component around the previous two.
3. Broken sync lead to the flash tube.
4. Broken leads to the main terminals of the flash tube.
5. Electronic fault at main thyristor.
5.1.Faulty main thyristor.
6. Faulty flash tube.
7. Other, like crack on the PCB.
Good luck! :)
If you happen to decide to part with your faulty flash, please consider to write me first, I offer it a good home... best regards, Laszlo klaci(at)index(dot)hu

Vivitar 283 charges but fails to flash

I had the same problem with my early Vivitar 283 flash.  I discovered that the thyristor on the trigger board tested as an open circuit.

Trying to find a replacement for a 30 year old thyristor semi-conductor proved to be fruitless.

My solution was to purchase a broken, late model Japanese 283 flash off of ebay and transfer the trigger board to my early Japanese model. The late model thyristors could handle more heat.

Problem solved.
