1995 KLE500 Kawasaki: neutral blue light doesn't show and when clutch is released to engage in gear, engine cuts off

Hi, Ishmael the ignition circuit cut-off system comprising of the side stand switch, clutch switch and neutral switch has the following functions:
a. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is up, but the clutch lever is not pulled.
b. It prevents starting when the transmission is in gear and the clutch lever is pulled, but the side stand is still down.
c. It cuts the running engine when the transmission is in gear and the side stand is moved down.
Periodically check the operation of the ignition circuit cut-off system according to the following tests.
With the engine turned off:
1. Move the side stand down.
2. Make sure that the engine stop switch is set to "RUN"
3. Turn the key to "ON".
4. Shift the transmission into the neutral position.
5. Push the start switch if the engine does not start the neutral switch may be faulty.
With the engine still running:
6. Move the side stand up.
7. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
8. Shift the transmission into gear.
9. Move the side stand down if the engine does not stall you may have a faulty side stand switch.
After the engine has stalled:
10. Move the side stand up.
11. Keep the clutch lever pulled.
12. Push the start switch if the engine does not start you may have a faulty clutch switch.
This check is most reliable if performed with a warmed-up engine.

I bought a used 2004 XB12S. It has some issues the neutral light comes on whenever I squeeze the clutch handle... Also my pinch bolt on the rear axle is stripped out. How can I repair these issues?

the clutch lever assembly has a switch in it which only allows the bike to start in gear when the clutch is in or if its in neutral it will start with it out.so check the neutral light bulb live is there and check the switch goes to earth when its in neutral.the pinch bolt can be replaced with a new one if damaged and if the thread is damaged you need a helicoil putting in it or a timesert.

Honda CBF250 - When clutch pulled fully, switching Neutral to 1st Gear bike bounces forward

I think could two things. 1. A sticky clutch from being used for awhile. Are you starting it in gear with the clutch in or in neutral then engaging first. 2. You might need a slight adjustment on your clutch. Particully if there doesn't feel like much tension on the clutch lever.

I have a 1999 Honda CBR 600 f4 and recently it won't start while in gear. Before, I could start it while I gear with the clutch lever pulled. Now it only starts while in neutral. Any ideas?

the neutral light, side stand switch and clutch switch are all wired together.
If the neutral light works.then check the side stand cut out works as normal, finally check the micro switch under the clutch lever, it should make a tiny click when the clutch is activated, also check it with a multi meter, follow the wires back to the plug and check the resistance goes from 0 to 1 with the clutch pulled

What can i do to make it easier to get the bike into neutral ?

Not very much. Bikes are like that. This happens because the clutch continues to have a little drag while the release lever is being held in, and that drag loads the transmission parts. Motorcycle gear selection is accomplished by sliding pins into holes on the sides of the gear(s). If there is some loading, the pin is trying to push the gear, and de-selecting that gear requires sliding that pin out of the hole in the gear while there is friction on the side of the pin from the loading. All fixes for this will be associated with trying to find a way to get the clutch to release more fully.

Tighten the clutch cable a little, being careful not to tighten it so much that the clutch starts to slip under power.

Use a thinner oil (though this is really not a good idea).

Replace all the clutch parts (not just the discs, but the baskets & such). The discs wear dents into the marts they mate with, and tend to stay in those dents, increasing the friction just a little while the clutch is released. But just a little is all it takes.

Get in the habit of shifting to neutral while still rolling, so that, even though the clutch is creating drag, the drag is trying to spin the parts at the speed they are already spinning at, so there is no loading of the transmission parts. This takes a little practice.

1998 Ford Taurus SE, Problem Transmissions wont Shift, Took it to the Shop and they Said it Had to be a Electracal Problem?? But they did not Know what, Some times Works Fine Other Times Check Engine Comes...

TRY THIS I BET IT'S YOUR PROBLEM

Neutral Safety Switch
  • Put the selector in the park position.
  • Loosen the screws on the neutral safety switch.
  • Remove the switch.
  • Reverse the procedures to complete the installation.
Clutch Start Switch
CAUTION
Before replacing the clutch switch or any component connected to the vehicle's control computer, disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
  • After replacing the switch, slowly work the clutch pedal and note any unusual noises or interferences with pedal movement.
  • If the switch is adjustable, make sure the clutch pedal height and push rod (free) play are correct.
  • Then check the release point of the clutch.
  • Begin by engaging the parking brake and installing wheel chocks.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle.
  • Without depressing the clutch pedal, slowly shift the shift lever into reverse until the gears contact.
  • Gradually depress the clutch pedal and measure the stroke distance from the point the gear noise stops (this is the release point) up to the full stroke end position.
  • If the distance is not within specifications, check the pedal height, push rod play, and pedal free play.
  • If the distance is correct, check the clearance between the switch and the pedal assembly when the clutch is fully depressed.

  • Loosen the switch and adjust its position to provide for the specified clearance.

Bike stays in gear with clutch in

You are saying that with the clutch lever pulled in the bike still wants to go forward. Generally that is caused by dirty, gritty oil in the gearbox. Go ahead and change the oil. 10w40 motor oil is what you want. I think that will fix the problem assuming the clutch plates were installed properly. The first plate installed and the last plate installed should be a fiber friction plate, 8 plates total. A metal pressure plate goes between each fiber plate, 7 plates total.

Be sure the lever assembly arm is installed so that it gets full movement of the clutch cable. If the full range of movement is not present then full disengagement of the clutch is not going to happen.

cape cod bob did you a good service in the manual referral. Be sure to say thanks.
