Question about 2001 Ducati ST 2

1 Answer

Ducat ST2 2001 - it has a problem with fuel delivery under power. I have changed the fuel filter and cleaned the tank (no water or rubbish in the tank). Could it be a faulty fuel pump relay? This fault is an intermittent and feels like the fuel is not getting to the motor.

My furnace wont stay running we have changed the pump nozzle and filter the tank was tipped 2weeks ago and has never been the same since

Have the fuel delivery people pump the water off the bottom of the tank and add fuel conditioner to the tank.

Topping off and pumping off both stir up debris in the bottom of the tank. You may have to change filter and nozzle again.

You are having a fuel delivery problem, or may have water or other contaminant in your fuel. Begin by replacing the fuel filter, then test the fuel pressure regulator. If you are not getting sufficient fuel under load after replacing the fuel filter and pressure regulator, check the operation of your fuel pump, and make sure that the fuel pickup screen in the tank is not clogged.

If the vehicle sat for a period of time greater than six months, or if the fuel delivery system tests good, remove ALL FUEL and replace with new clean fuel.

Oil coming out air filter

Depending on the type of service that was done; This can occur when the Computer is not reset (if the car is fitted with one). B12 chemtool is an injector cleaning tool, but remember that it will clean the Fuel Tank, try to clean the fuel filter, the fuel pump, and all of the fuel lines. This can cause the Fuel Filter to be filled up with rubbish from the Fuel Tank, Fuel lines, and the Fuel Pump. This B12 chemtool's job is to carry all of this rubbish through the system and even remove carbon from combiston chamber, and push it all down the exhaust and out of the car.

I have a portercable 5250 generator works great starts great shutts down after about half hour maybe 20 percent load oil good disconnected oil switch, changed feul, carb seems good, bowl clean still...

Seems that you have covered all the bases. The problem that you describe could be related to fuel lock or restriction in the fuel delivery system. Easy to check. Remove the air filter and have carb cleaner ready. If you are near the gen when it begins to quit, spray just a little carb cleaner to see if engine tries to run. If engine begins to run or continues to run with carb cleaner, then suspect fuel delivery problem. If the engine seems to stop quicker with carb cleaner, suspect flooding caused by too much fuel pressure (fuel pushed past the needle due to pressure in the tank; open fuel cap and listen for air pressure release). Fuel delivery problems are caused by collapsed fuel line, restriction in the fuel cut-off valve, restriction at the fuel filter (use larger automotive type), negative pressure in tank caused by no vent at cap. Rare problem with fuel delivery is caused by sudden heat rise at the carb causing fuel to boil out of carb. This is caused by the engine running very hot, lack of air across cooling ribs caused by debris or fan missing blades. You can eliminate the complete fuel delivery system by mounting a small fuel tank on a stand and running fuel line directly to the carb for test. The tank needs to be higher than the carb so that you will have good gravity feed. Good luck

Have 1995 olds cutlas with v6 3100 engine. engine runs great at idle and lots of power when cold. after driving for 150 miles car starts cutting out and loosing power under load. still idling great at that...

could be a fault with the fuel pump. it may be wearing out. check the fuel pressure at delivery. a blocked filter can also do this as its being surged for more fuel not the normal filter this one is on the pump it has larger holes and if you have sludge in the tank this can stop the fuel delivery. . for vacuum leaks spray some carb cleaner around the air lines any change in the engine usually indicates an air leak. also the fuel pressure valve these can all lower or stop fuel pressure.

My 02 Saturn Sl2 doesn't like to start sometimes if I let the gas get below a quarter tank and then fill it up. I know it's a fuel problem, I changed the filter and pump and cleaned the injectors. The only...

If you believe there is something in the tank causing trouble, the best first step is to change the fuel filter and then carefully cut the old filter open and check for signs of contamination. If the problem is powdered rust as you expect there will certainly be some evidence in the filter - it won't all be trapped by the prefilter gauze in the tank.

If there is no evidence in the filter the problem could be water in the tank. The prefilter gauze is fine enough to prevent water going through. It could be worth trying an emulsifying additive such as Wynns Dri-fuel before physically looking inside the tank.

If there is something in the tank restricting fuel delivery, a fuel system test that checks the fuel pressure and delivery volume would surely prove that and remove the doubt.
My own opinion is a much greater volume of fuel is needed for normal use than actually starting the engine so if once started the car runs well, fuel delivery is much less likely to be the cause of bad starting.

Got water in fuel tank, removed water from truckchanged fuel filter & plugs still will not start

was fuel pump changed and lines flushed---turn key on if fuel pump hums system should pressurize turn off and under hood check to see is gas is present in fuel line[have rag handy and press valve down at fuel test port which is in line between distributor and throttle body if no pressure filter clogged or pump not working -if fuel and water need to drain again -if fuel than need to test throttle body -spray some starter fluid into truck if starts or sputters than still have problem with fuel delivery --

Sounds like you have rubbish in your fuel rail and or in the filter and tank. Drain the fuel tank, change the fuel filter and take off and clean out the fuel rail. When you have done the above, check the fuel pressure if its not within spec, change the fuel regulator.
