You should run a seperate HEPA filtration unit as well. The purifier normally oxidizes organic pollutants, and will attract some small charged dust, but not everything.

My oreck cell does not collect dust, but the light is red are the wires broken?

Depending on what model , when my red light comes on and flashes it usually has something stuck in the cell it can be real small even or lots of build up on cells, when you pull out the cell you can determine if the wires are broken.

I bought the big Idyllis -awesome;however, I purchased a second and it was possessed - makes woooo noises. exchanged it. Same thing. Smaller unit -loud. Would like another large with the wooooooo.

I used to use a damp papertowel and then an antiseptic wipe or spray a tiny bit of windex on a second paper towels and wipe each bar individually lts just a pain and a bit scary. this way it should be left to dry for hours. the dust is connecting the ionic filter the metallic bars that look like the bottom of a DVD are statically connecting creating the pop noise a shaking or rattling noise means it probably wet.
I got a trick use a microfiber towel to wipe the majority of the filters filmy residue. then grab a screen cleaner used for a tablet I pod or a cell phone. once the icky sticky collection on the ionic filters metallic bars. the cell screen cleaner. should make all the metallic parts oil and dust free. and they can be used over and over again. a microfiber towel just needs to be rinsed by hand afterwards if it's dirty it's fine it's just used so that there's no papertowel remnance. a glasses lense cleaner should just get the oils off afterwards cause that will make it so it won't attract dust quicker which is how it shakes wen wet. Basically tiny dampness attracts dust creating a clumping which makes it unbalanced so then the shaking or rattling. u gotta start over again. those are two ways.
now afterward take a deep breath plug it in hold the button down for 3 to 5 seconds. This should reset the switch to normal and then press it again to turn it on. it should only have a tiny breese. My dad would say that it's broken but it's for allergens and free flowing dust. So have it a foot off the ground and usually near a light switch cause they never have furniture there also all switches are out of the way cause usually the first thing you need to see is light which is why ur hand reaches not ur feet as if u would kick first to find a couch. if you have it by the couch or chair it my seem plesent till it falls. all purifiers r the same an ion charge stimulates low electricity attracting fibers or dust as a balloon gathering static electricity. the best purifiers to have are the water filtering purifiers no problems there just change the water once a week. well I hope you got some knowledge of helping you understand how and why they do as they do. most people end up giving them away.

Have aprilaire 5000 and blue light comes on but unit does not act like it is working lots of dust in house

When was the last time the filter was changed and electrostatic wires wiped? If the light is on the unit is working. Please check the filter media and wipe the fine metal wires on unit adjacent to the pleated filter.

Grease marks on polywood

We have Polywood Furniture that had grease from my son putting his bike chain on it while he was fixing his bike. I just took some mineral spirits with a rag and it wiped right off. Poly-wood is impervious to most all chemcials. I know www.polywood-furniture.com has a page that talks about how to clean your furniture. Still looks brand new!

Electronic Air Cleaner problem

The presence of “white dust” is actually an indicator that your Electronic Air Cleaner is working properly. The Electronic Air Cleaner can only filter the particles that are passing through your system’s duct work. The staining particulate is generally lighter, and more able to be drawn through the return registers in your home, leaving the heavier, non-staining particulate behind. This heavier, non-staining particulate settles out of the air and is left behind on your furniture: because it is more visible, it may appear as though there is actually more dust in your home than there was prior to installing the air cleaner. To ensure that more particulate is able to reach the Electronic Air Cleaner to be filtered, you should make sure that the return registers are clean and not blocked by furniture.

Cleaning the top of the oreck air purifier

what i normally do, is i take off the top of the and remove the filter, the metal dust catcher, and the back filter... i was the 2 filters and rub them down. then with the metal dust catcher i take a butter knife. wrap it in a clorox wipe (making sure that no metal is exposed to scratch) then i feed it through the metal dust catcher one at a time to clean it. It took me 5 wipes to clean the whole thing. when the wipe comes out black then i rotate it. As for the top of the machine. there are 2 screws that i removed to get to the fan. when they were out i used a can of air (like you would clean a computer with) and blew out the fan... it took care of all noise and it runs just like the day i got it.

Clean lite on /leaves dust on furniture

Ok, makes me wonder why anyone would trust the Chinese to make a reliable product, but... try cleaning the contacts at the base of the blades with an alcohol swab or pencil eraser; if they're the least bit dirty or have a film on them, the contacts will not make up properly and the unit will think it needs cleaning!

Honeywell F300E not cleaning air.

A newly installed system should still be under the contractor's labor warranty. Call them and ask them to come out to check on the unit and explain what you wrote above. This should cost you nothing and is the best way to get to the bottom of the problem.

User Manual

The only cartridge is the included 'stainless steel collector grid' (removable for cleaning with cloth, don't use vinegar), there's no air filters that need replacing.

According to the manual:

SIR setting (Super Ionic release) creates lots of negative ions which not only gives a prior-to-rainy-day fresh energetic atmosphere that relieves headaches, but also if comes into contact with dust, will attach to the dust and make them heavier to drop them out of the air.
SOS setting (Super Oxidating Sanitizer) turns oxygen O2 molecules to O3 molecules, which if comes into contact with odor or dust will discharge 1 O atom into the pollutant to neutralize it. Also, like SIR, it introduces negative ions that attach to dust and makes them fall to ground, but not as much,

Both settings tackle dust/pollen/smoke with SIR doing it faster. Only SOS can neutralize organic odors. I recommend SOS because if you leave it on long enough it can do the same job as SIR, as well as make the room smell fresh.

Help! My air ilter quit!

I bought one a year ago and never thought it work well in cleaning the air. I get more dust on my counters than collects in the pure-ion. I recently got a letter from an attorney saying they are settling a class action suit on these purifiers because the are not effective. I called brookstone and they said they will refund my money because of the law suit. Good luck.
