Need to remove ignition where key goes.
Remove the top yoke/ fork clamp nut and clamp bolts, then the handle bar clamps, remove circlips from fork tops if it has any (remove fork caps if their diameter is larger the that of the fork tubes leave if thay are the same) slide the top yoke off past steering lock unclip switch wiring coupler.
The ignition switch will probably be in with saftey screws or snap off saftey torque bolts, remove with saftey screw tool or drill off toqure bolts

You always want to use the highest octane gas u can find in a motorcycle engine .... 91 at least
SOURCE: how to change sparkplugs on honda shadow motorcycle
VT1100 has two spark plugs per cylinder, the sparkplug caps are snap-ons so they're fairly easy to remove. You need a spark plug socket wrench to remove and replace the spark plugs.
SOURCE: 85 honda shadow 1100 Ignition fuse burns
you have a bad fuel pump. your fuel pump gets turned on by the blue wire that runs from your coil to your spark unit thats why the fuse never blows with the coil disconnected. i had the exact same thing and wasted a lot of time looking for a short that was never there and even tried a new spark unit and fuel cut off relay before i replaced the fuel pump.. fuel pump 65.00 money wasted on other things 350.00 and a lot of time. have your fuel pump tested with a 10 amp inline fuse and if it blows then u will know for sure
