Sound Device not working but everything seems to be installed and working

There are no sound coming from my computer. I tried every program that would play sounds and none made a sound.

Out of the blue, I began to hear a beep instead of the regular windows systems alert sounds. When I checked the system sounds, I had no audio i/o. When I tried to open the volume control, it says that I have no active sound mixer available. Windows Media won't play because I have no sound device installed.

I've tried system restore, running virus scan, rebooting, resinstalling sound driver...but everything on the device manager is working properly.

You might want to try going into the bios of your computer (usually pressing delete when your computer first comes on) and looking in there to make sure your sound device is turned on.

you may need to re install the sound card drivers. Go to the main computer site, and see what they say about this. Happens sometimes.
