Trying to remove the battery sometimes resets any issues. If it's not under warranty one can repair it with the use of micro precision screwdriver kit you can get at the dollar general for about 4 dollars. First I would disassemble it, and try reseating the flex cable that attaches the LCD screen to the main board. There is a plastic lock that holds the cable in, so make sure to lift that up before gently pulling the flex cable out. If pulling it out and putting it back in doesn't make a difference I would look at replacing the flex cable, and lastly the LCD panel. Because you didn't mention anything about cracks, water, or any other LCD damage, my opinion leans towards the flex cable shorting out.
