My dad has a 1994 z71 extended cab and the ignition went out in it. I've been told I have to take the steering wheel off but I don't know where to go from there. How do I change the ignition switch out

Yes you have to take the steering wheel off, next you will need to take off the round pressure plate that is secured with a C pin around the inner column(behind the plate is a big spring, remove). after that you will need to remove the plastic switches behind the pressure plate. there is a screw on the right that holds in the ignition. after removing the screw the ignition should come right on out. put in the new ignition and make sure to fasten the screw back on. replace the plastic switches and put on the pressure plate (which is very hard to do and remember to fasten it back on with the tiny C clip and make sure that your spring is BEHIND the plate) then bolt back on your steering wheel

Horns not working,original relay 43yrs old !

You hear clicking at horns, and not the relay? Maybe the horns went bad, or maybe you need to check and clean the connections there.
Don\'t know why the cab light went dim, unless the horn wire was trying to make contact?
Yes, TJ, the horn wire should be hot. You are grounding that hot wire when you press for the horn. That hot wire comes from the coil side of the horn relay. Press for horn, it grounds the coil side of relay, and the relay can pass power to the horns.
Now back to the clicking no-honker horns: power gets to the horns when relay is energized, and there has to be a good ground for horns to work. I don\'t know if your horns are case grounded or a wire from horns goes to ground, but check the ground there. If case grounded, pull horns off and clean the ground. Also might try a known good horn. Keep at it, sounds like you are almost there.

2002 Dodge Dakota flasher

The flasher is on the top of the steering colunm right behind the steering wheel, remove the screws (4 I think) from the bottom of the steering column cover, remove the bottom piece then the top, you have to fiddle with it a bit to get it around the ignition switch, the flasher is on top (7 pin? connector) get the Mopar one, I've heard if problems with aftermarket pieces

KEY WONT TURN IN IGNITION

OK, obvious first: turn it the other way. Don't laugh, I've done this.

Otherwise, barrel is jammed. Get a new barrel, dismantle the steering column and replace the existing one. You'll now need two keys: one to unlock the car and one for the ignition. You won't be the first.

What does the Cruise Control wire from the switch plug into? I don't see anything that it would fit in under the steering wheel? Is there an adapter of some sort I'm missing? Chevy G30 1995

I've got a 98 Z71. The person that had it before me put a different steering column in it and the cruise isn't on the same lever like normal its behind the signal light switch. And its only got cruise on it and its not hooked up. I was wondering if you guys have any ideas?

I have a 1994 Chevy extended cab 4WD 1500 pickup with an intermittent problem with the windshield wipers. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. A friend of mine told me that he had a similar...

I have experienced this problem with 80's and90's chevy trucks especially with the Delay part of the wipers. Almost always it has been a dirty or corroded connection At the wiper motor. Unplug the motor and check the connections at all plugs. They Should be clean and make a tight connection. This usually solves the problem. Once the connection is cleaned use a little dielectric grease or wd40 on the connections When reconnecting. Let me know if that works for ya.

Engine cuts out when steering wheel tilt is adjusted. Also, cruise control not working.

For the cruise control, check the fuses under the steering wheel. As for the engine cutting out, don't adjust the steering wheel while driving.
