The cooling fans are run by a relay it's located in the junction box. check this. there is also a thermoatic sensor located near the fans next to radiator. the fans should free spin when the engine is off this is a good indiacator that it's not the fan themselves. if the relay checks out(run engine and switch the fan relay with the a/c clutch relay when the engine reaches 180 degrees you will feel the upper radiator hose get hot the fans will turn on a short time later iof they don't it's the temp sensor near the radiator if they do it's a bad relay...please rate this thanks
Turn on ac fan should come on if so replace coolant tempature sensor. Once coolant reaches operating tempature PCM uses resistance siginal from senor for coolant tempater and then sends voltage to fan relay
If the you checked the wiring at the fan and it is 12v and the fan motor is ok it will work unless you have a bad ground and you will proberly find that one motor will kick in first then at a certain temp the other will kick in they both don,t come on together unless the temp is at a certain degrees normally when the fans don,t work its down to fuses or the temp switch which operates the fans which can be tested by by-passing the switch or which is more likely the fans relay as the points burn out yates210456
unfortunatly no they keep moving them round but i would suggest looking on the radiator itself to see if you see a switch or they can be located on the cylinder head sorry can,t be more helpfull let me know how you get on yates210456unfortunatly no they keep moving them round but i would suggest looking on the radiator itself to see if you see a switch or they can be located on the cylinder head sorry can,t be more helpfull let me know how you get on yates210456

The reason that you drive and engine cools down is that cool wind is blowing in the grille in front of the car and when you stop, that natural wind stops cooling it down.
First check the fan fuse. If it is OK check the fan itself: just apply wires on the connector of the fan and attache it to the battery (dont mix "+" and "-") If fan will not start, replace the fan motor. If it starts check for the Fan Motor Relay
REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.MAKE SURE COOLANT NOT LOW.IF ALL IS GOOD CHECK FOR LEAKING WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE IF LEAKING REPLACE WATER PUMP.MAKE SURE COOLING FANS RUNNING.IF ENGINE RUNNING HOT WHILE SITTING LONG TRAFFIC LINE AND COOLANT NOT RUNNING.CHECK COOLANT FAN RELAYS AND FUSE.IF ALL IS GOOD HOT WIRE MAKE SURE COOLING FAN MOTOR GOOD IF COOLING FAN DONT RUN WHEN HOT WIRED FAN MOTOR BAD.IF FAN MOTOR OKAY AND FUSE RELAYS GOOD YOU HAVE FAULTY COOLING FAN WIRING.YOU COULD HAVE BAD ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR OR FAULT IN ECM CODE SCAN TO CHECK THEM BOTH.CHECK ENGINE OIL.LOOK LIKE MILK SHAKE YOU HAVE LEAKING HEAD GASKET.IF OIL LOOKS OKAY.YOUR ENGINE BLOCK, RADIATOR AND HEATER CORE NEED FLUSHING.
most time coolant temperature sensor faulty.but check cooling fan fuse and relay.then hot wire the cooling fan if fan runs.problem in the fan wiring or pcm.if every thing else okay.if cooling fan dont run when hot wired the cooling fan need replacing fan motor has internal open winding circuit.
HOT WIRE COOLING FAN USING JUMPER WIRES TO BATTERY.IF FAN DONT RUN WHEN HOT WIRED FAN MOTOR BAD NEED REPLACING. IF FAN RUN WHEN HOT WIRED. CHECK COOLING FAN FUSE AND RELAY.IF ALL IS GOOD.YOUR ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR NOT WORKING.IT CONTROL COOLING FAN AT SET TEMPERATURE IF SENSOR OPEN OR FAULTY THE COOLING FAN WONT TURN ON.CHECK COOLING FAN WIRES FOR DAMAGE.IF ALL STILL CHECK OUT GOOD HAVE VECHICLE SCANNED FOR PCM FAULT.IF IT FAILS NO COOLING FAN WONT TURN ON.
It depends there are a few resons why the fan may not be workin. The first and easiest is the fuse see if it is blown if it is try to replace it if it blows again either you have fauylty wiring or you fan is pulling to many amps. you can check to be sure there is nothing jamming it up turn it by hand be sure it will spin freely. If your fuse is goood you need to check to see if it is getting power find where it plugs up. unplug take a voltage meter you should be getting twelve volts to it. If you are getting the twelve volts you can check to see if the fan motor is bad one check for this is too check the resistance across the moror windings this can be checked with a ohm meter if you put the meter leads on the two wires goin to the fan motor you should get a resistance this could vary with different types of motors but on most should be low 2 ohms or less (this is a normal winding resistance not exactly what yours may be tho). most of the time when one of these motors goes bad the windings actually burn open. So if your meter is reading open or infinate or a high resistance this means your motor is bad and need to be replaced. ths is just a few checks to do if you perform these and are still not sure what to do just come back and comment me with your findings and i can help you further. make sure you are carefull dont want you to lose any fingers and remember the key has to be on and the engine warm before your fan will come on. this is just the start of alot more steps you may have to do to find the problem and will only rule out the easy problems of many many more problems that could be causing your fans not to run. Good Luck and remember i am here just comment me if you need further assistance.
Relay may be ok, check the temperature sending unit that signals the relay to run the fan, it may just provide the ground for the cooling fan! Temperature sensor for the cooling fan circuit!
FIRST CHECK FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH IS GOOD.SCAN CHECK FOR FAULTY COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IT TURNS ON COOLING FAN AT SET TEMPERATURE.IF COOLANT TEMP SENSOR IS GOOD.HOT WIRE COOLANT FAN IF DONT WORK FAN MOTOR IS BAD.IF COOLING FAN RUNS WHEN HOT WIRED.THEN YOU HAVE DAMAGE WIRE OR SHORT OR THE CONTROL SWITCH IS BAD.ALSO CHECK HVAC FUSE BEFORE BUYING ANOTHER CONTROL SWITCH THEY ARE NOT CHEAP.
CHECK COOLING FAN FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH GOOD SCAN CAR TO CHECK COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULT CODE.THE PCM AND COOLANT TEMP. SENSOR IS WHAT CAUSE FAN TO RUN AT CERTAIN TEMPERATURE.IF ALL IS GOOD.HOT WIRE COOLING FAN USING JUMPER WIRES TO BATTERY.IF FAN DONT RUN REPLACE FAN MOTOR.IF FAN RUNS YOU HAVE SHORT OR BROKE WIRE IN THE COOLING FAN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR.
Check the fuse first. If the fuse is good, apply 12 volts directly to the fan motor. If the motor does not run then replace it. If it does run replace the thermal relay.

thanks for the help! Do you know where the switch is?
