The setting of the ignition is too ADVANCED and so there is PREIGNITION. Perhaps this is done to have the engine respond well into higer RPM and so if there was backfiring only when the start was missed , I would suggest that you try out to start and if not you must get the bike tuned once again for fuel settings and ignition setttings including timing.

Hi,
Looks like an already blocked exhaust pipe.
Dismantle the exhaust pipe from cylinder and start it, if it start, means you have to buy a new exhaust pipe, if not, a CDi problem the culprit.
Message us if you still need some assistance.

Need help on the letter

WR stands for wide range if I remember in 1989 there was the YZ250 and the WR250 both two strokes.
The WR was the enduro model with a wide range gear box. low first gear and overdrive in top
The WR four strokes started around 1998, but Im not sure if the gearbox are much different to the YZF.
In australia there is a compliance plate on the headstem with model ID.

I've a yamaha yzf-r6. Problem- Lost all drive in any gear!!!??

It could actually be that the countershaft sprocket has stripped-out the splines that engage it to the countershaft. Take off the cover and have a look at the sprocket. Hopefully it is only the sprocket that is damaged and not the transmission shaft that it mounts to.
Another possibility is that the clutch cable has somehow gotten waaay out of adjustment. Just feel the clutch lever; you should have some free play at the lever. In other words, the first 1/4" or so of lever movement should do nothing except take up a small amount of slack in the cable.
Are you sure it is actually going into gear? Or have the splines on the shift shaft stripped-out? These are the things I would check first. If it isn't one of these, then I predict some major transmission work is in your future.

Just bought a 2001 yamaha yzf 426 how do start

For a cold start, turn fuel on at fuel tap. Pull out the choke knob. slowly kick the kickstarter until you feel it become harder(more resistance). push past this resistance then release the kickstarter. What you have done is put the piston in the position just after top dead centre of the compression stroke. Now give it a big kick whilst opening the throttle slightly. There is a real techneque to it so don't think your the only one who has problems! Otherwise, ask your local Yammy dealer for a look at the owners manual. It has a description on how to both hot & cold start your bike. They may let you photocopy it. Good luck.
If it just isn't happening try removing the sparkplug, put it back in the plug cap, rest the plugs metal body on the cylinder head (don't hold it there or you could get a nasty shock) Now kick the kickstarter while watching the sparkplug gap. Did it spark? If it didn't theres a problem. No spark means it wont run! Then you'll need to find out why theres no spark. Hope this helps to get you started Otherwise let us know and i'll se what else I can suggest.

97 YAMAHA YZF 1000,wont start itself after bike is warm

Have you checked the ground lead?

Make sure it is clean, it runs down and bolts to the top right hand side of the crank case.

Sometimes what happens is, that lead gets grime on it, oil or corrosion.. and it doesn't make good contact. The lights, spark ETC load the crank case and frame full of DC.. when you shut the bike off the dc cant flow through the starter so it won't turn over.

after a while the dc trickles out it will let the bike start again.

Hope thats it and it works for you, good luck!!

P.S. how is he liking his ace?? Awsome bike, I have had mine since 1999, and it not about to go anywhere!!

What plugs are you using, did you try a NGK CR8E?.

When you remove the plug,is it wet with black oily deposits or is the plug dry with a black deposit, also check if the plug has a greyish white appearance,is there deposits between the two electrodes....?If you can give more info maybe I can assist.
