Hi there i have a ts 185 and when i kick it it fires and stops with a puff off smoke out of the carby can u tell me whats causing this to happen

Remove pinch bolt completely and pry off splined shaft.

i presume the bike must be in gear to move the front sprocket. does the piston move if try and bump it in gear..if not.the piston has somehow seperated from the krank, need a visual inspection, head needs to come of, possible more. if it does then need to look at kickstart mechanism

check the float needle in carb bowl is not stuck & floats are at the right height, and float pin is not worn

Hi, drain and change the oil as it has become contaminated with fuel. This is caused by your carby flooding while stored. Check and clean the needle and float in the carby and make sure it stops fuel flow when you hold the float parallel to the carby body. You can also fit an inline fuel tap to prevent this happening again. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

check ignitor element. sometimes they rust and get loose. replace if element is loose. this causes an open and the ignitor fails putting out the flame and then the safety kicks on turning off the heater blower.

check to see if gas is flowing from gas line make sure fuel tap is turned on. Check the plug and replace it if not new check to see if the carburetor is dirty. Make sure if you have an oil injector to check the oil lines. To name a few things.

if it starts with a bump and not the kick start, it usually means the crankshaft seals are leeking. left one leeking will make it run weak, right one it will run rich.

Spews smoke and then stops? Worn valve guides or worn valve guide seals. Quick way to tell: take it for a ride with someone on another bike / car behind you. Use engine braking. Puff of smoke? Probably seals.
Bright side: These engines are dead easy to work on.

If it not geting oil , it will not last long max 20 mins runing

Drain the oil and put 750ml back into the gearbox. If your bike doesn't have a dipstick and you have good, clean oil in it, drain it into a plastic bowl then put it right back into the engine but measure it before you pour it back in. When you get 750ml in the box then look at the level in the box. That is the level to maintain.
