A number one misfire means that the number one cylinder is no longer working as good as it should or is not working at all. The number one cylinder is on the back side of the engine on the passenger side. 1-3-5 are the three cylinders in the back.

Three basic things can cause a misfire.
1. a bad spark plug wire
2. a bad spark plug.
3. a bad injector.

Remove the sparks plug wire from the spark plug and remove the spark plug. Inspect the inside of the wire and the outside of the plug to see if there is any carbon tracking. it will look like black lightning bolts. If there is any carbon tracking replace the plugs and wires.

Check the spark plug gap. It should be around .060". if its over .080" the plug is worn out.

Check for spark with a spark tester.

the fuel injector is a little trickier.

Start with the things above and let me know what you find and we'll go from there.

2001 Passat 1.8 Turbo engine sputtering and hesitating

My car was doing this and I had to get all new coil packs... Mine were replaced under recall at the dealership at no cost. If you take each code and google it, or even check a VW forum, I'm sure the members there can provide a lot more thorough information...... I have a 2001.5 Passat myself and when one thing goes out they all follow suit. I will help with some research for you and post back...... But I'd check the coil packs that sit atop the spark plugs.

Use a different fuel station. First run the fuel tank low before refilling elsewhere.

Replaced 2 coil packs and still running rough 2003 trailblazer

try replacing or cleaning the injectors
when misfiring moves around it is seldom the coils , plugs and any thing else connected to spark but dirty fuel, low fuel pressure and dirty injectors or injector control
use a quality injector cleaner for a few tankfills

What can cause a cylinder 1 misfire in a 2003 Chevy impala with a 3.4 liter engine

Misfire reasons.
Bad ignition coil (there are 3 of them), bad spark plug, bad spark plug wire (most common) defective fuel injector, intake manifold vacuum leak, low cylinder pressure due to burnt valves or scored cylinder walls.

2003 SATURN VUE SERIVE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS BLINKING ON AND OFF RAN THE OBDII READER AND CODE P0304 CYLINDER MISFIRE CAME UP I CHANGE SPARK PLUGS AND BOOTS BUT CAR STILL DRIVES ROUGH SHAKES AND WHEN PARKED...

The P0304 indicates the #4 cylinder is misfiring. The flashing light means the cylinder is not firing at all...It could be several things causeing it, coil, wires, plug, injector or vacuum leak. Do not drive your vehicle until you have this repaired, as it will lead to further more costly problems. Good luck, i hope this helps.

2003 chevy impala ls starts then stalls

I have replaced the radiator in my 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS. The car started running hot and shut down. Took it to a radiator shop and found a crack in the radiator. I have replaced 2 thermostats in the car already. I noticed water running from under my car today and it seems it was coming back out of the overflow. I am stumped as to what is going on with this car.
