Cruise control is inoperative

It can be faulty cruise control switch. If the switch is replaced, then it can be wiring issue or faulty cruise control board. But as the switch is replaced, get the voltage at the switch tested to confirm the switch is actually receiving voltage. If no voltage received at switch power supply wire then, apply external 12 volt power to the cruise control switch wire and then see if cruise control comes ON. If yes, then you know wiring is issue.

2008 mitsubishi lancer es cruise control not working after radio install

It is possible that the cruise control system in your 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES was damaged or disrupted during the radio installation process. There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the fuse. Make sure the fuse for the cruise control system has not been blown or damaged. You can find the fuse for the cruise control system in the fuse box, which is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle.
  2. Check the cruise control switch. Make sure the cruise control switch, which is usually located on the steering wheel or dashboard, is working properly. You can test the switch by turning the ignition on and pressing the switch to see if the cruise control system activates.
  3. Check the wiring. Make sure the wiring for the cruise control system has not been damaged or disconnected during the radio installation process. You may need to have a mechanic or service professional check the wiring to see if there are any issues.
  4. Check for software updates. If the cruise control system is connected to the vehicle's onboard computer, there may be software updates available that can fix any issues with the system. You can check for updates on the manufacturer's website or through the vehicle's update feature.
I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

What should it cost to get cruise control fixed

depends on the cause that it is not working. the cruise control switches in the steering wheel send signals to the ECM and theECM sends signals to the cruise control servo.so there is a wide range of what it would to fix it. the cheapest and usually the most common failure is the brake pressure switch located on the brake master cylinder. it is the switch that FORD had the recall on to install a new wiring pigtail because the switch would short out and cause a fire. the switch starts to leak brake fluid and shorts out and also will not allow the cruise to work.

Cruise control suddenly not working, checked the fuse its ok

The vehicle has two differant brake switches . One is pined through the top of the brake pedal and controls the light functions and warning circuit . The other switch is connected to the cruise control the VCM and the transmission for the simply reason that these systems need to know when the brake is applyed to shut the cruise control off or else you would have a big problem if you hit traffic its a fail safe system. The second switch is up under the dashboard near the steering coloum and has a wire comeing from the connector from the first brake switch its a rectangler black plastic box. It could also be a viraty of other connections to the cruise control unit or it could be that the unit needs to be replaced but its not cheap so i would test this first check connections and voltages . The vehicle will still run fine with out the cruise control unit so try disconnecting it this will give you more information about where the problem is and eliminate the VCM and the transmission from the loop then the problem would be confined to the second switch or the cruise control unit it self

2003 Honda accd Cruise control power won't stay on

With the car turned off and the battery disconnected, root around under the dash and find the wiring harness that comes down from the steering column. You may have to remove a dash panel or two to get at it. It should be connected to the car's main wiring harness with a plug of some sort. Disconnect the plug.

Using a multi-meter set to test continuity, test pairs of pins in the connector from the steering column, pressing the CC switch with each pair, until you find the pair that come from the CC switch.

Isolate the wires for these two pins behind the plug and scrape away a tiny bit of insulation with a knife blade, being careful not to cut through the wire. Test the wire pair again to be sure you've got the CC switch wires.

Cut the wires, leaving several inches of wire above the plug to work with. Using a good quality crimp connector (or soldering, if you know how and have the equipment), connect the two wires you just cut loose (the two coming from the plug, not the steering column).

Make sure there are no bare wires *anywhere* when you're done. Cover everything with heat shrink tubing or electrical tape, then use a tie-wrap to bind all the wires together again. Return the wiring harness to where you found it and re-install any dash panels you had to remove.

Reconnect the battery and go for a drive. The CC switch will be totally out of the circuit, but your CC should be permanently turned on.

Now here's the fun part. You'll have an extra momentary-contact switch on your steering wheel that's not doing anything. Just think of the possibilities... You could use it for an auxiliary air horn like on a semi-truck, or you could wire it into your brake lights so you could screw with tail-gaters without actually stepping on the brakes. Look for the switch somewhere on your brake pedal assembly and add two wires from the old CC switch to the contacts on the brake pedal switch.

Check the speed control deactivation switch on the master cylinder. disconnect and use a jumper wire to connect the wires together. If the cruise works it's the switch.
