I have a 97 v6 mustang and the cel is on and shows p1443 had someone check and they said its a sensor in the gas tank was wondering if its the ftp sensor

Hello! The faulty component is called the Canister Purge Solenoid (CPS...See diagram below of Vapor System for your engine...Also pictured is the CPS...It is not in the gas tank but mounted near it...Follow the vacuum lines and check for breaks, rotting or loose connections before you buy a new CPS.................Guru..................Saailer

This is a code for the evaporative system which includes a black plastic container in the front of the engine comopartment that has hoses going to the tank and the throtle body. When it isn't running the fumes from the tank accumulate in this charcoal filled container and when the engine starts, they are burned. Something is wrong with the vacuum or electric solonoid on the top of this container.

It should be at the rear of the car on drivers side in front of the bumper near the fuel tank.

Cylinder # passenger side radiator to firewall, 1-2-3
Cylinder # passenger side radiator to firewall, 4-5-6

Coil numbering

97 Mustang GT misfire

this code P1443 means that the evap system is not holding the pressure properly is leaking someplace ..designe to reduce the pressure accumulate in the gas tank, this gases are released to the canister if the pressure is release to fast there is a problem.. bad or loose gas cap..bad main evap valve (stock open) or something broken in the evap relate lines
