SOURCE: Lifan 50cc scooter not starting.

It requires three main things to start the scooter:--- 1)Gas. 2) Spark. 3) Cylinder compression.---------- Any of the one is not functioning right so scooter is not starting.------------ Its possible that gas is not flowing till the carb and that is causing the problem.Either gas valve is clogged or faulty.Or gas line is clogged or carb itself is dirty and gunked up inside and needs to be cleaned.--------- Click this link below and follow the troubleshooting :--- http://whatisbyme.blogspot.com/2011/08/lifan-50cc-scooter-not-starting.html ----------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Lifan... That's chinese right?

Any problems with performance can be reduced to spark problem, fuel problem, or compression problem. Check spark first as that is easiest. Make sure to check ignition coils and such too. Then check the carb. That can get gummed and gunked easily. Not to mention the settings need to be just right.

I have replaced the battery and ignition unit on my 1985 suzuki 700 es, the bike really sounds like it wants to run but wont start. Starter turns but engine won't kick over. Any Ideas?
Is it getting gas properly? Has it been sitting around for a while? The carburators on motorcycles need to cleaned after sitting around. The jet could be full of varnish. Are you getting spark for sure? Pull out a spark plug and put it in the wire, crank it over and see if the spark plug sparks. When you pulled the plug was it wet at all with gas? Then it probably isn't getting gas right. Just some of the things you could try.

CR 125 is 2 stroke? Rings probably worn out. Check compression, if lower than 85 psi, it wont run.

455 wont run
Make sure the muffler has not become plugged. Check the flywheel key as it may have sheared off for some reason causing the timing to be off, yet still generate sparks. Are the sparks blue and snappy? If not, check the ignition module gap to the flywheel magnets--use a thin business card for a gauge. A wide gap can cause weak spark. Hope this gets you running again!
