Restricted Performance on my 2008 Jaguar S-Type the fuel tank gauge has been acting wonky going from side to side help please.

There's apparently a faulty ground between the tank connection and frame that causes the gauge to cut up like that. Gage works, bur jumps around. could be just the ground at tank connection needs cleaned or pushed on more. Or both. This ground may also be causing the engine to not get enough fuel to make it run improperly.

I would try pouring in a can of 'Seafoam' available at your auto parts store. It cleans the inside of the carbs/injectors.

2000 jaguar XJR. pressing accelerator - nothing happens -

if its a v8 its gonna be your throttle body its a complete assembly and is a common problem on these models

sounds like classic symptoms of air leaking into engine after air meter, check air hoses to engine then when engine at idle - spray detector spray around the inlet manifold and if this is leaking at its gasket (very common problem on V6 at the rear of the engine) the engine note will change. see earlier posts with similar problems. hope this helps - good luck.

I have a 2004 S-Type Jaguar, I got a message stating Restricted Performance. What could possibly be the problem.

sounds like your cars computer is having issues running the engine at normal settings.

You should get the computer codes read to see if there is a failing sensor or other component.

Low fuel pressure could also be an issue if the sensors are all in spec. That test is something a mechanic with a pressure tester can check out.

2003 Jaguar S Type R 4.2L SC. Check engine light on with rough idle and computer statement stating that performance is restricted, engine will not exceed 2500 rpm? Any Hints?

Rent a scanner, read out any code(s), and pursue to repairs. It may be as simple as bad spark plugs and wiring, or worse, fuel problems from the injectors back to the fuel tank. A worn O2 sensor can cause improper fuel/air problems.

Jaguar s-type restricted performance

I had the same problem. Restricted performance and running rough at 3000 RPM. I have an OBDII code reader and found that the problem was in the air mass flow sensor, which is just after the air filter. I pulled this out and found it was dirty and had butterfly wings in it. The last shop where I had the oil changed replaced the filter for me but put in the wrong size. Close but no cigar. Bought some *** Flow Sensor cleaner at auto store and fixed the problem. Get an OBDII reader with the ability to erase the codes. Comes in real handy.

2001 Jaguar XJ8 Idles rough while sitting

o2 sensors often cause a rough idle at stand still. Previously my xj8 had crank case ventilation (pvc valve essentially) issues that caused the check engine w/ restricted performance. I noticed a severe drop in gas mileage as well. Jaguar dealer fixed my problems in a few hours and it was surprisingly cheap. Its worth taking it to advanced or auto zone to see what the computer says. Then decide if you want to shell out for a dealer fix or if you can tackle it yourself. BTW, just to justify myself this is my third jaguar. I have a '94 xj6 with a chevy 350 inside it, previously owned a 95 XJ6 and currently have the xj8. They are wonderful cars if you can put up with their rough times.

I own an '01 S-Type and have had to many problems to list, however 3 months ago mine started riding rough, the check engine light actually started blinking and it shook pretty bad especially at stop lights (although it didn't shut off) I drove it straight to the shop and they said it was a bad ignition coil (coil #4) - $135 total and it ran fine. 2 months later coil #5 went. I was advised that if you take it to the dealer they will replace all 6 ignition coils at once charging you over $1,000. They are only about $60 a part stores. Good Luck I'm getting rid of my Jag this week! What a pain in the neck beauty!

Does it do this all the time? if its only when you start the car after say a long cold night there could be a problem with ur automatic choke or your timing could be out.
