First of all, do not try to power it on, plug it in, or press any buttons. I would flip the hold swith on top so you see orange so none of that happens. You need to be sure that all of it is dry first. However, realize that something probably bumped it enough to turn it on in the wash too, which could have zapped it pretty well. I would let it sit to dry for at least a week. I know it sounds terrible, but you need to be absolutely sure that it is dry. One tiny drop can ruin a whole ipod, if it is not already broken. There should be edges that are barely noticeable, but if you can pry them open with something really thin, without warping the plastic, you could get it open to dry. Just be very careful not to touch anything inside, because oils on your skin can be just as harmful as water. Good luck, and let me know what happens.

What is the best settings to wash jeans on.

While hand washing and line drying is safest, it's also costly in terms of time and effort. Unless your jeans are particularly dirty, it's best to wash them in cold water, select one of the gentler cycles, and dry them at a low temperature. Special detergents formulated to preserve dark colors really do work.
What temperature do you wash jeans? When to Use Warm Water - For man-made fibers, knits and jeans, use warm water (90°F). Most of your clothes can be washed in warm water. It offers good cleaning without significant fading or shrinking. When to Use Cold Water - For dark, bright colors that bleed or delicate fabrics, use cold water (80°F).
Wash your jeans in the sink or a tub.
  1. Fill a tub with a few inches of cold or lukewarm water. Mix in a gentle, color preserving detergent.
  2. Turn the jeans inside out, then lay flat in the tub. Don't bunch them or wrinkle them. Let them soak for about 45 minutes.
  3. Run them under the water to rinse. Hang up to dry.
  4. Can you put jeans in a tumble dryer?
According to Good Housekeeping "All fabrics and especially jeans benefit when youtake them out of the dryer slightly damp. ... If, even after tumbling on low heat and a delicate cycle, you see lots of lint on the dryer's filter, you may want to switch to linedrying your jeans to help preserve the fabric.
    hope this helps you out.

I washed my iPod Shuffle in my jeans pocket and have already tried turning it on and plugging it into the computer (with no luck). Is there any hope/What do I do now?

Yes. I believe there is still hope! Just wait until it is completely dry. You don't want to short circuit it by turning it on when it has water still in it, so wait for everything to dry before trying it again.

I washed my daughter's ipod shuffle which was in her jeans pocket

These are never easy situations to experience, but I can only advise you to disconnect the iPod Shuffle for the computer, make sure it is turned to "Off" mode and allow it to sit in a place where there is sunlight or heat for at least 3-4 days untouched.

I have heard this process being done by a few folks for different iPod/iPhone devices, so hopefully this will work for you.

This is however, the only suggestion in such cases where an electronic device like your iPod shuffle has been subjected to moisture or water.

If this still does not help, you will more than likely have to take the iPod Shuffle in for service at an Apple-authorized iPod repair center or unfortunately replace it with a new iPod.

I hope this helps and you are able to get your iPod back to functionality again.

Regards,

-Terry

IPod went through the washer.

Open it to see if the Lithium battery is swollen. If it is you might only have to replace it. If you have tried to turn it on much while wet, your Pod is Pot. Sorry,

8gb nano ipod not working

remove screws, pull apart, let air dry or try drying with hair dryer. don't recommend pulling screen apart. There is several layers of the screen. It is hard to remember what order the screen layers go. But still take apart for better drying.

Ipod nano went thru washer, now won't work

I did the exact same thing to my iPod nano 3rd gen. I discovered it by the noise it made in the dryer when it fell out of the pocket. Clack! Clack! It seemed dead, but it made a full recovery. What I did was put it on the dashboard of my car for a couple of sunny days to dry out, recharged it, and it was fine. If you have particularly hard water, maybe you'd want to try dipping it in some distilled water just to get rid of any mineral residue before drying it out. I'm impressed with how tough these dudes are. Good luck.
