Yes it can. if isn't rusty to the point that all you would be doing is blowing away the oxidized metal as you weld. just make sure all the fuel is out of it and run water into it to remove fumes. then dump water and let dry. then you can weld it. then fill with water to leak check it. if it passes then dump water and let completely dry.......please rate this ........thanks

Hole in gas tank

get a tube of J.B. Weld, drain the tank, give it a couple hours for the hole to dry, apply enough J.B. Weld to cover the hole. (you have to be very quick with the J.B. Weld or else itset up before you can get it where you need it. dries in 3-5 mins.)

Leak in the gas tank

Repairing a fuel tank can be dangerous so don't try to do it yourself. Any attempt to weld the tank will result in an explosion, even if the tank is completely empty; you can't get rid of the explosive fumes.
You'll be better off replacing the tank if there is a hole in it.

Frame is desinergrating....how can I support it

If the frame is rusted you can weld in pieces up plate metal to fix it. If you don't weld or can't get welding done you might be able to bolt a peace a piece of metal. But welding is preferred. You could also go to junk yard and get a different frame or cut out a piece of frame from a junkyard truck. Good luck.

1995 Dodge Caravan - I'm leaking gas from the tank. There are two metal braces that hold the tank up, with a rubber strip between the brace and the tank. It's leaking along one of those braces and the...

I had this problem also. Although I took mine off and used a sealent on the inside and used Seal All on the outside. First off I cleaned mine and primed and repainted it. You may be able to get away with loosing the bracket, find where the gas is coming from and clean that area very well. You can buy a something called metal weld-looks like a crayon. You break a chunk off and knead it and smash onto the hold or area like putting silly putty on it. Then after that is dry or hardened, take some "Seal All", comes in a yellow/red tube and smear that all over the weld patch. Let it dry and cure and replace the bracket. If your rubber is moving you need to tighten the bracket up. Hope this helps.

Leaking gas

Some tanks have a fitting(s) molded into the tank, and filler attaches with a short piece of hose & clamps, others have a seal that filler pipe slides into for a tight fit. If it's the seal type & you can't pinpoint where leak is, you may have to pull filler out. Usually screws behind gas tank filler door, and out it comes but take a close look for anything else that may be holding it. You may have to twist & wiggle a bit but it should come. Inspect seal & tubes for nicks etc. If you have to re-use old seal, clean good, lube it & lube filler pipe before inserting back in to eliminate more nicks, and helps go in easier.Twist slightly going in too, makes it easier & helps reduce seal damage.
