how do i troubleshoot the coil on a honda odyssey atv 250?

Quick way is to hook a spark plug to the coil and let it sit on the head of the engine if you see a spark at the end of the spark it should be good. Sometimes the coil is bad even with spark, so look for a nice spark.

no spark =/

sounds like no spark, remove spark plug from engine pop it back into plug cap, hold spark plug with insulated pliers,so electrode is earthed on engine head get some one to trie to start engine wilst you earth plug and see if it sparks.if it dont trie another spark plug if still no spark bye a spark plug tester from local motorfactors (fits between spark plug and cap)screw sparkplug back into engine pop on plug tester pop coil leed on top of tester and trie to start if you see no spark in tester your coil pack probably shoot.or if it has an engine safety cutoff switch that may be faulty
