Tip & How-To about Motorcycles

Gas and Gunk in carb

If you have a dirtbike/atv you might have experienced this problem before. You gas it and it shuts off, most likely this is caused by having particles or old gas "slime" in the carb. All you have to do i take off the bottom bowl and then clean it out and you should be set to go.

where is compression release for polaris sportsman 4x4 atv

Polaris uses an automatic decompression that sits in the exhaust cam. There is not an external lever as there is on older Kawasaki's and dirtbikes. What seems to be the issue as to why you're looking for a compression release?

The problem is probably that your carborator is not clean or there is water down your exhaust pipes. Or something solidified in your gas tank. hope this helps

coolant status light led setting fro dirtbike

I'm guessing because it has an ATV setting programmed in. No cooling fans on the dirtbike means they run a little hotter so I need to know a good baseline to set it to. If your light is on all of the time and not blinking then you have version 3M hex in your ecu. This was a version that we did for C'Dale back in early 02 to help them with a problem. You will need to change to the 4K hex to get the functionality of the temp light.,,
