How to get black parts on your motorcycle to look new

After you wash your bike shamois it dry then when the bike is totally dry say the next day, spray all the black areas including black barrels etc with a silicone spray it will come up looking like new. Just don't rub over it with anything, it will look wet to start with but after a while it will just look great.

start button not working

As much as it sounds bad, try spraying wd-40 in the start button with everything off, let it sit out in the sun for a few hours to let it soak in to the metal contacts under the switch and to dry out the wd-40. Then after say 4-5 hours, go out there and press the button a good few number of times say 100 pressing fast and hard a couple of times, that way if rust is on the contacts the wd should free some of the rust up and knock it loose off the contact.

Next time you go to wash bike put a plastic bag over the button to keep out the water and just wash around the area with a damp rag rather than soaking the whole area, should help to keep the button dry.

Worse case scenario is you can get a new/used button on ebay, replace and then start using a plastic bag to keep dry. those things are rough when the switches get wet on a bike.

Hope this helps.

After washing my yamaha v-star 1100A. the bike won't start. Checked spark plugs and ignition coil, but no current going to these parts. What are the next steps?

You might have gotten the coil and plug wires too wet.

Either give it a day or two to dry out, or spray them with a thin coating of WD-40, wipe dry, and try starting.

The washer fills and runs through the cycle but leaves a grit on the dishes

Hi,

If detergent is left in the compartment:

? Be careful not to load items so close to the dispenser
that the cover will not open to release the detergent.
? The dispenser is not supposed to open when you
use the Rinse program.
? Your dishwasher detergent should be fresh and
stored tightly closed in a cool, dry place. Old or caked
detergent should be thrown away because it will not
dissolve properly and will leave a gritty residue on
the dishware.
? Wait until you are ready to start the dishwasher to
add the detergent.
? If you are using the Delay program, make sure the
dispenser is dry before adding the detergent.
? The detergent compartment only opens in the main
wash programs, not the Rinse program.

YOU MAY NEED TO CLEAN THE FILTERS MORE OFTEN
IF YOUR AREA HAS HARD WATER
This can cause low water pressure.
In hard water areas, it may be necessary to clean chemical buildup from the filters every 12 to 18 months. To do this, remove the coarse filter by squeezing the
tabs and lifting it out. Next, unscrew the fine filter and lift it and the main filter out. Wash all three filters gently in hot, soapy water and rinse them thoroughly.

Your spray arms may be clogging causing low pressure too.
Spray-arm jets and bearings may sometimes become clogged with hard water chemicals. To remove the spray arms, screw off the nut and take off the washer on top of the spray arm and lift off the arm. Wash the spray arms in warm, soapy water. Use a soft brush to clean the jets. Rinse thoroughly and replace.

Try cleaning the drain pump so it gives you more water pressure. On occasion something may get through the filters and into the drain pump. The drain pumps on ASKO dishwashers are designed to automatically reverse if anything should get caught in the propellers, thus ejecting the item back into the sump area or down the
drain. Should you need to remove an obstacle from the drain, first turn the power off then remove the filters . Next, lift out the small black insert
from the sump area. (You might want to remove any standing water first.) You can then look into the sump area for the item causing the obstruction. Should you
find something, simply scoop it out. Be sure to replace the black insert before you put the filters back in.

You could also try to clean the dishwasher with ' Dishwasher Magic '. This would work like charm :-

Problems in wet weather and cleaning my triumph won't start.

Water is getting into your ignition coils.
Trace the spark plug lead up to the coil.
Get some ignition sealer spray and spray loads of it on the leads and coil.
When a bike is new, it is sealed. After washing with detergents it gets washed away. Spray the leads and coil once a week to keep them totally dry.
An immediate way to get round when wet is to spray wd40 on the leads and coil, it should start straight away.
But, don`t spray ignition sealer on until it is totally dry.
Hope this helps
