Xt250 1981 yamaha takes forever to kick start
Probably nothing a good tune up couldn't fix. Points, plug, carb clean and adjustment - you know - the works. Have the mechanic do a compression test and adjust the valves as may be required. New wires, the works.
My rt 100 is blowing
I see this is for an RT vehicle -- the post indicated it was a motorcycle.

Hello there i like to
Visit the dealer or just call them on the telephone and ask exactly where the kit is and how to get to it.
How to open the seat
If it is any thing like my 1980 Yamaha, then there are two bolts loosely swinging from the seat down to a catch bracket mounted on the frame about two thirds back from the front. Loosen those two nuts enough to swing the bolts out of the catch, lift and separate the seat from the frame. Many seats are attached this way.

Take the front wheel off , clean out the mud, free all the frozen parts and grease the brake cam shaft going through the brake panel housing. Replace the front brake cable and you should be good to ride. Hint: If the front brake drum is full of mud you need to remove the rear wheel to clean out the mud and grease the brake cam shaft there also.

Yamaha 4 wheelers are notorious for having bad intake manifolds. They often crack or separate causing problems similar to what you are experiencing. If there is a gasket on the manifold replace it and carefully inspect the manifold for cracks and separation from the metal flange. If your machine is equipped with reed valves inspect them for bending , leaking , cracking, bad gaskets, etc.
Just in case part of the problem is electrical , buy a new spark plug cap. NGK makes a replacement for about $5. The resisters in the spark plug caps burn out all the time. The cap simply unscrews off of the end of the wire. It might be all you need.

If it's a 1300 then 3.7 litres at filter change. Smaller bikes, obviously less.
I have a 1985 yamaha
Your existing kill switch, when applied, completes a circuit to ground. The tether does the same when the tether is pulled. You can tap it into the kill switch.
I have this 1982 yamaha
Gday,
I have just finished restoring a 1981 model XT250.
The best advice I can offer is to take your digital camera and record as much info as you can about the way all the cables are fed through the bike also pay close attention to the way the wiring harness lays.
You will find all kinds of diagrams but photos are much more reliable for me.Photograph every thing even if it seems obscure it will help!!
Find heaps of containers for all the bolts bearings and odds and ends.Keep a roll off masking tape close buy and write info ontO the tape and attach it to the containers or the parts.
This will help when you try to screw the mirrors on and find out that one is a left hand thread.
When dismantling the wheels put the axle back through the wheel and all the components and put that nut back on secure.
Its little things like keeping the bolts in there right place that will help when reassembling.
If you can screw the bolt back into its original hole after removing a component do so .
The most used tool I can recommend would be a decent wire wheel on a bench grinder(a grinder that is bolted to the bench)
You can bring almost any bolt that looks like rusted **** back to new and it will take off paint and scale no trouble.
Very fine steel wool for your chrome .
Get a manual .The digital ones are ok up to a point but you should buy one form Clymer
hope this helps.
Davo.
Good luck
Yamaha 100 champ wont start but it will pull
Sounds like a battery that will not hold a charge. When the battery is low all the juice goes to the starter. Not enough left for a good spark. Kick it and the juice is there for the spark. Once running for a short bit the battery gets recharged so the key works all day. Then the battery dissapates the charge overnight.
Befor you spen $50 or so on a battery, look to see if there is water covering the top of the battery plates. If so then the current battery needs to be replaced. If not, add water to cover the top of the plates and ride it for a day. See if it holds a charge now. Battery may still be bad but it was worth a shot.
