1998 Yamaha YZF-R1 engine oil type
Depending on the climate that you live in. Cold temps SAE10W30SE to hotter climates SAE10W40SE.
Hotter climates still and if you can find it 20W40 and 20W50
Off hand, don't know the size of the crush washer. I assume this is for the oil pan drain plug. They are of a very common size and freely available at just about any motorcycle parts store. They are an aluminium washer, not a copper crush one. I've actually never replaced one ever and have never had a leak. If they are a little deformed you can sand them lightly to even them out.

Hi, Sounds like you have a bad ignition switch. Also check alternator, so that battery is charging.
Do a test for me, start engine disconnect battery. If alternator is working you should have light and horn. Stop, engine reconnect battery. This will give you a better idea where the problem lies.
Good luck.

When my 4xv is stood
You need to find source of leak ASAP !
Check the fuel lines, filter etc to see where fuel is coming from.
make sure there are no sparks, naked flames nearby or you will have an ex-bike.

I want to change the
just put in three quarts keep bike level start bike for a minute turn off then when its still up right fill it only to 3/4 of the way up the sight glass or stick this will help to keep from over filling. If you over fill you case the crank splashes the oil around and stirs it up and make bubbles or air particles and this could damage your main bearing so its always better to under fill than over fill.please rate my expertise i like to hear feedback.

How to change the air filter?
the lid for the air filter box, try lfting it upwards, or moving it sideways, sometimes they have small tabs, or locating tabs on them. check to see if you have removed ALL the screws. something is stopping it should come off,, sometimes the seal sticks, you may need to tap it, or use a screwdriver to lver it off.

Jumps out of second gear
"""an oil change will fix it?" not a chance,,,sorry
you have a worn second gear in the box,,,but fell free to change the oil, it just wont fix it, second gear is the one that takes all the hammering when its getting caned from a stand still,, like 0mph to warp 9 in ten feet! its an old gear box now and its showing its age
