Bent gear lever
Go to the site
below and download a free service manual for your bike. You may not hit the exact year but the shifter and most other service items will not have changed. Some manuals are in foreign languages but in a worst case scenario you still have pictures and diagrams.

Motor cuts out when gear engaged
Make sure you have your stand up before you put it in gear. Some bikes have a stand switch that doesnt allow the bike to be in gear while the stand is down. This switch may have been damaged when the bike fell and now be malfunctioning.
Hi, I have to reset
When the engine is not running, ideally the points open at TDC...they will advance once the engine is running.
If you don't have a timing light, an old trick I used to use was to get a string of christmas tree lights that had 10 of those tiny lights in series. Why 10? 120V / 10 lights - 12V/light.
If you have a string with 20, you can take 2 in series, but the idea is to clip out one of the lights and put it across your points. slowly rotate the crank in the direction of normal rotation, and the light should come on as you hit TDC (ignition must be on, so remember to remove the sparkplugs!)
If they are off, adjust them, and either come full circle, or go back at least 1/2 revolution and then come back to TDC slowly.
It's an old poor mechanics trick, but I tell ya, it works well!
Gearbox whine, 6th gear 4000Rpm
Well that is a good one. It is most likely the main shaft bearing as 6th gear is direct. I remember many years ago, most vehicles had a noisy gearboxes. I don't think, as long as the gearbox has the correct oil in it, much harm will come to it. So on balance, yes it can be perfect but at what cost.
I will leave that one with you.
I cannot unlock the seat
Try spraying CRC or silmilar in the key hole and lean on the seat when turning the key....I assume its the right key?
I have a Speed Triple
The paint shops are likely correct, but there will be a number of powder coating shops that may be able to match the color. The powder coaters, coat many things like pool fencing.
You may have some success if you sand back the cover ,apply a aluminimum etch primer and then an epoxy paint.
The powder coating will probably last longer, as the alloy will eventually corrode under the paint and start to bubble.
If its a show quality bike, you may need to dig deep and get a new one from the trumpy dealer
I was putting coolant in speed triple spilt some
Ok , what you need to do first is to flush it out by removing the spark plugs and turn the motor over a few times to try to flush it out .
After that , get some fuel and pour a table spoon in each cylinder . try to turn the motor again a few time and repeat this action a few time to get rid of the coolant .
i would do this 4 or 5 times to make sure no deposits are left .
for the last time , put one more table spoon in each cylinder and put the spark plug back . try to turn the engin over a few time with the fuel tank turned on .
this should spark and start again .
it may be rough at first but once the fuel really washes through it will come back again to the way it use to run .
One other thing to do as well is to spray petrol through the air filter and this will help to start the bike with the fumes running through the carby .
try this and let me know how you go .
1997 triumph daytona 955i. Battery. Is not charging while im riding it. Why ??
There are several possible reasons why the battery on your 1997 Triumph Daytona 955i may not be charging while you are riding it:
- The battery may be faulty. If the battery is not holding a charge or is not functioning properly, it will not be able to charge while you are riding the motorcycle.
- The charging system may malfunction. The charging system is responsible for supplying power to the battery while the motorcycle is running. If the charging system is not functioning properly, the battery will not be able to charge.
- The voltage regulator may be malfunctioning. The voltage regulator is a component of the charging system that regulates the voltage supplied to the battery. If the voltage regulator is not functioning properly, the battery may not be able to charge.
- The battery cables or connections may be loose or damaged. If the battery cables or connections are loose or damaged, the battery will not be able to receive a charge.
To troubleshoot the problem, you should start by checking the battery to see if it is functioning properly. If the battery is not the issue, you will need to check the charging system and voltage regulator to see if they are functioning properly. If the problem persists, it is recommended that you have the motorcycle inspected by a qualified mechanic. They will be able to diagnose the problem and recommend the appropriate repairs.

Must be a loose connection in wires caused by movement. Inspect harness etc. Buy a clymer book for that model....for service&repair
