F1 light on but bike
Unless you want to buy a code reader, you must take the bike to a dealer and have them hook one up to see what problem the sensors have found. They can hit the reset button but the light is going to turn on again when the sensor find the problem is still present. Please rate my answer. Thanks!
Kawasaki Z1000 died while on the hwy. Now won't turn over
Unfortunately without any repair experience this may be too much for your first time out. You have a fuel injected bike, while your battery may have power you really need to ascertain if you are getting spark to the plugs, then check if you are getting fuel. These are the first steps to isolate the problem even further you would need the results of these checks.
Kawasaki z1000 wont start and the f1 light flashes
The flashing FI is telling you that the Fuel Injection computer has detected a problem in the system. Some problems are minor (dirty air filter) and the computer will still allow the bike to run. Some problems are major (plugged up injectors) and the computer will not allow the engine to start. You will need to have a dealer check the computer diagnostic reading to find out where the problem is.
Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?
Have changed the exhust to a short pipe and i know
If you want the bike to run at top condition YES it is the only way with out putting on even more expensive fuel injectors. Power commanders are made for all bikes, anyone that ever changes there pipes from stock to any aftermarket pipe should buy a power commander and retune bike, plusyou will get all the advertised horsepower from the pipes and increase fuel performance from it. Power commanders are fairly cheap compared toooo you burning out fuel system because it runs to rich or clog it by runig to lean....go with power commander and in about 4 hours it will run great ( thats install and retune time)
Changing the 2 inner sparkplugs
spray the base of the plug with a good dewatering fluid or nut loosner
wait 30 minutes then apply the plug spanner and use a tea towel or cloth to make the leverage easier and turn anti clockwise
hope this helps
Not a Z 1000 actually
check air fuel mixture, or might be the fuel float not functioning properlyobserve it overnight...
1980 kz1000 carbs not right,
Normally approximately one turn out is a good place to start. The screws control air and not fuel like most do. Turning them clockwise will reduce the air and richen the mixture.
The air screws are up on the sides of the carburetor bodies and are angled upwards to the outside of the bike. Pilot fuel mixture screws sit in the well on the engine side under the carbs on the bowl. You will need to check where the screws are on your model carb.If screws on up on sides of the carb then there is just air screw and no pilot fuel adjusting screw.
There is no setting for the pilot fuel mixture screw as a spec. The book tells you to reseat the screws and count the number of turns in. Set them to 1 3/4 turns out from lightly seated. Service fuel level is 4mm and float level is 26mm.Move the clip on the needle from 4 back to 3.

Have a ZLl000 Leaking
Hi.
The leak is in the air filterin carb models was caused by the float ball being stuck or broken. You could detect the problem because of the high oil level resulting in consequence of the fault.
The Z1000 uses a more complex air box injection system, but a defective fuel valve will still result in an incorrect oil level. Check the oil level. If it is higher than normal you may need to check the reed valves delivering mixture to the engine. I think this engine also uses a pingel or other vacuum operated valve. Check also the vacuum system for leaks. This check is done using a hand pressure tool like this:
Lisle 20300. Place the tool in lines and spray carb cleaner on vacuum hoses, if vacuum pressure goes up, then there is a vacuum leak that can lead to incorrect opening and closing of the valve and cause the leak in the air filter.
Here also an interesting forum explaining how to play with the ZL1000 air box.
The bike, Z1000 2003, just
FI stands for Fuel Injection. The fuel system sensors have detected a problem. It could be anything > a dirty air filter restricting airflow, a plugged injector, an error in fuel mapping, any number of things. Serious problems can trigger the computer to prevent the engine from starting until the problem is fixed. You will need to take the bike to a dealer to have them plug in a code reader. The code reader will tell you exactly what problem has been detected. There is also a chance a sensor has gone bad and is giving a false signal. Keep that in mind. Now determine if you want to do the fix or have the dealer do it. Please rate my answer.
