Ducati, like a lot of other Italian cycle manufacturers, does not produce their own electrical gear. The coloring sometimes varies. It should be right at the harness plugs (they do produce that bit).
If you need the actual colors for the harness, and they don't show in the manual, maybe post a question on one of the Ducati forums and someone might post a photo for you. Even if that photo shows colors for the wiring coming from the switch, don't trust them. Use a multimeter to verify.
Look at the bright side: I've had Guzzis where the wiring was all one color :-(

which I fixed. It all started when the bike died on the road. WhenI got it home to try and start it the starter would turn over at first but eventually it would not despite a charged battery. I then realized the engine was filling with gas everytime I tried to turn it over fuel was leaking from thelower exhaust pipe and the site glass was void of any air. I opened up the drain plug and a ton of oil and gas came out. I refilled the crankcase and the motor at first turned over until I realized gas was again leaking from the lower exhaust pipe. I disconnected the fuel lines and electrical under the tank and hit the starter switch again. The motor started and ran for a few moments before depleting the fuel that was left in the lines. That told me I have spark but for some reason gas was gushing into the cylinders at a high rate flooding the engine. I made no more attempts to start the motor out of concern doing that would damage it.,there is no way for fuel to get passed the rings right? So if you filled the head with fuel, it would just work its way down the exhaust pipe and out the back, just like its doing. The only way of getting fuel into the sump is; if you have seriously bad rings (it would be burning oil) OR if its getting through the breather system. I don't even think if the injectors were on full-time, it still wouldn't get into the sump... very strange. Are you sure its not coolant? A serious coolant leak can be completely unnoticeable from the outside, but catastrophic to the inside. __________________,,,

Do the fans work at the lights on a hot day by themselves??

If not the thermo fan switch in the water jacket is faulty (Assuming there is water in the radiator!!)

100 m or k's.Best fix is very probably the plugs. They do work hard and before you pay the bucks for a mechanic 2 spark plugs is cheap. There is not a lot that plays up on bikes nowadays and plugs do.Try it and if that is not the problem you don't pay top dollar for them to fit 2 new ones. Its already done.I have 2 dukes.Hope this helps

either you have a bad battery(bad cell) or you need to clean you battery terminals.  Clean both end of the positive and negative cables.  If these are dirty or corroded  it will act like a bad battery.  Do this first since it is a free to do, plus it may save you from future problems.  Then before you buy a new battery, see if jumping it.  If it starts then you need a new battery.

haven't ridden it more than 50 miles and almost everytime I turn the bike off it doesn't want to start up again...turns over fine.... I got it back from the mechanic today both plugs were replaced *$120. and it ran great....I went about 10 miles total turned off the bike and again...not starting....I pulled the plugs and they are fine....... I'm gonna have to tow it back to the guy...not sure what the problem would be now.... any suggestions?First thing I would check is for a spark. Put a plug in the cap of the front cylinder and turn it over. If you get as good blue spark then you need to move on. Second is fuel. I'm sure you have gas in the tank, but are you getting a sufficient supply. Check the hoses on the bottom of the tank and ensure they are connected properly if all the looks good replace the fuel filter and hoses inside the tank. If you try both of these then we will move on. Good luck!,,,

technoresearch my bike had an IAW 16M ecu. When I got the kit I looked at the ECU in my bike and it is an IAW 435. A mechanic told me he thinks it may be the stock ECU but I don't think so. Anyone know if it's correct? It's a 916 monoposto. Thanks.,I got the big book in front of me, it says ALL 916's had 435 (P8), except for the biposto and Senna edition. So, whoever told you it had a 1.6, didn't know that info,,,

it sounds like you grounded out the light. it may not have been from something you do. check you light and see if low beam wire is pinched or the socket is not in the plug wrong.check you fuse as will you might have blown it. if you have a multimeter use the ohm setting to check to see if the power to light is grounded. to so simply put on lead into the power wire and other to the ground if you get a reading there is your problem. let me know if that is what going on if not we can start checking the relays and things like that.

The turn- bank sensor may think you have wrecked or just tipped over the bike. It may need to be replaced. Have you had to lay it down lately? Usually they reset after being turned on again after a lay down. It might not be resetting. Good Luck with that one.
