2005 Buell Lightning XB12S Questions & Answers
Recently bought a 2005 XB12S
The butterfly that attaches to that arm requires a cable that is operated by a servo. Some bikes don't need it if they told the ECM to ignore it. You should have gotten the bike tuned to remove the POPPING that was caused by the race can. The race can sounds good and gives the bike a nice kick in the HP dept. The oil light could be a loose connection or it could be the engine having a oil issue - only way to check is to put a oil gauge on there and see for yourself.
Has been sitting in the garage on the battery
check you pump, and sometimes you might not hear the pump coz the carburetor seem to be full of fuel. if the caburetor is not full then the floater pin might have stucked for long staying.

Have you tried bikebandit.com? How about google for a Harley Davidson/Buell parts fische? I have had hit and miss luck finding things right on the Buell.com website. Maybe go on and if you don't see one just hit the contact us button and request one from Buell. They are pretty good about responding.
Weird noise
secondand third gear but doesnt happen all the timeDo you think is the clutch?Probably going to need more information to diagnose this one. The Buell makes SO much mechanical noise when running it's hard to tell at times if it's normal or not. If it sounds like a handful of nickels in a blender it's probably OK. The only whirring I've heard in over 20k miles on my Uly is the cooling fan.,,,
Why no power?
most likely either have a fuse overload close to the fuse limit or a short to the ground with some resistance to it. Or a high resistance in the fuse block. If wires under fender not culprit, check fse block front and back,
Drain old gas tank
Buy a fluid evacuator like one of the Mityvac products. Then add some fresh fuel, slosh it around a little and pump that out as well. You should then have a fairly clean tank.
On a motor cycle it should not be that difficult to remove the tank and empty and flush it out.
Will not crank
More info - does the bike spin over? Lights come on? does the starter make noise? good battery?
