Not sure here know how to do a 1960 model but this one no idea but i wouldnt mind betting their is some screws underneath somewhere

Question edited for clarity. Question moved from 'First Computers' to make model category. You aren't letting it warm up before charging down the road with that tiny engine. the Vespa ET2 50 has a two-stroke engine which needs an oil mixture in the gasoline. There are 2 (two) tanks under the seat: 1 is for gasoline and the other for 2T-oil. If you dont't fill that oil tank with two-stroke oil the engine will run dry after a couple of miles and the bearings in the motor blow up. -such strange behaviour very often occurs when the rollers (& belt)in the variator case are worn, they have to be replaced by a dealer. -they have a lifetime of only 12'500miles (20'000km) You should change the roll bearings in the variator box not only the belt! -the complete servicekit

you need to pull up the rubber cover at the base of the mirror and tighten the nut at the right position...

it's impossible - you need a new coded key, made with the brown master key (code on the plastic card)

Does kick start turn engine? I'm sure it does, is fuel getting to carb, does it smell of pertol when trying to start? Have you knocked HT cap off the spark plug? Did you get some cleaning fluid in the electrics?

Pull the hose that goes to your carburetor from underneath the fuel tank and crank the engine for a second. You should see fuel coming out of the hose.Pull the spark plug's cap, remove the cap by turning it counterclockwise like unsrewing a bolt, and while holding it far from the edge, take the ignition coil wire's end close to the engine creating a gap of 1cm (less than an inch) and crank the engine. You should see a spark between the cable's edge and the crankcase.If all the above turn ok but you still cannot start the engine (even by replacing the spark plug with a new one) then you shoul have your compression check at a dealer.

The chances are that your brake light switch is jammed on. The switch is connected to a spring, which in turn, hooks onto your brake pedal. Two likely causes

1) The spring is over tensioned. There is an adjustable thread on the switch which allows you to move it closer to, or further away from the pdal, relaxing or tensing the spring. Release the tension on the spring by adjusting the switch unit so it is closer to the pedal (But test that when the brake is applied, the light DOES come on).

2) The unit is jammed as a result of age and or corrosion or dirt. Clean the unit, unclip the spring from the brake pedal and pull the centre pin of the switch in and out repeatedly to ease the movement. This may get it working again. If exercising the unit manually for 5 minutes doesn't fix the problem, you may need to replace it.

To work on an ET2 engine, there in no need to remove the body parts on a 2005 ET2 Vespa 50cc, as most maintenance tasks it can be performed without disassembling the body parts.

moved you vespa, no Shanghia here. you wired it wrong, and not only that fuses left out of cicuits. fuel + wires burning is never safe to mix so find real help in a real shop. for scooters.

Press the lid down as you try to unlock it. The jacket is probably causing the lock to bind. Please add 'make model (what it is)' to all questions. I moved from the Seat category, they are a Spanish car manufacturer. You may be talking about a mobility scooter, but Vespa has a place in my heart from the late 1960s.

A weak spark could cause this as when the throttle is opened the cylinder pressure rises sharply, the atmosphere inside becomes very dense and a much higher voltage is needed to make a spark. If it is fuel starvation then partially applying the cold start, choke or strangler should alleviate the problem somewhat; signalling you missed something when checking the fuel system.
