Can I change the oil on my 2002 Road King while on the kickstand? Or does the bike need to more upright for full drainage?

Hi, John if you are experiencing excessive oil coming out of the crankcase breather or air filter please drain all engine oil and replace half of the same oil that comes out. Many riders are overfilling their oil system because they do not know how to properly read their oil sight glass or dipstick. The following procedure works on nearly all 4 stroke engines but to be on the safe side you should refer to your owners manual. Use your center stand if you have one. 1. Bring the engine up to operating temperature or let it idle for 5 minutes. 2. Turn off your engine and let it sit for 2 minutes, this will allow the oil from the top end to drain to the bottom. 3. Hold your bike straight up or on the center stand and wait 2 minutes for the oil in the bottom of the engine to be level in the sight glass or on the dipstick. 4. Your oil level should be between the top full mark and the bottom add oil mark. 5. Never overfill your oil system it will cause problems: a. oil leaking out of exhaust pipes. b. oil leaking out of breather pipe/hose. c. oil carryover into the air cleaner. 6. Your oil site glass must "NEVER" be, completely full or empty drain or add oil as necessary. 7. Your oil dipstick must "NEVER" be over the full mark and should never be below the add mark drain or add oil as needed. 2002 Harley Davidson. What is knocking noise which sounds like it's coming from the supercharger?

Hi, Will, since superchargers are not a stock item on any Harley, it is not a simple answer, also I do not know the model, however, I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. 2019 Harley iron883. Why aren't tail lights working?

Hi, Jimmy tail light issues are relatively easy to diagnose and repair always check the tail light fuse first and make sure you have power on both sides of the fuse holder and the usual suspects are: 1. Taillight bulb element is broken. 2. Taillight bulb soldered contacts are extremely worn down. 3. Taillight bulb socket corroded. 4. Taillight bulb socket has no power and or ground. 5. Taillight wiring harness damaged from the rear tire. 6. Taillight rear fender wiring harness connector faulty due to corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets. 1995 Electra Glide. Why isn't starter engaging?

Hi, Raymond, the starter clutch is a separate mechanical gear driven component that is activated by the starter motor, it engages the clutch pack ring gear to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in "ONE DIRECTION" only and once the engine starts allows the gear to free spin with engine rotation. If the starter gear free spins in "BOTH DIRECTIONS" then the drive gear has failed, it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced. I have a 2005 Electra glide my main fuse keeps blowing also have no power to the bike whatsoever it will not crank it will not turn over it will not do anything is there a chance that it could be a rectifier

Hi, Brenda before diagnosing your blown fuse issue, check the bottom of your seat, if its metal and comes in close proximity to the positive battery post you need to take the necessary steps to ensure there is no contact (electrical tape, thick rubber insulation, hammer a dent in the seat bottom, etc.) You are going to need a wiring diagram from your service manual, a test light, an ohmmeter and plenty of extra fuses. If you turn on your ignition switch and immediately blow a fuse you have a hard/dead short and is usually easy to find. With a test light connected to the hot side of the blown fuse holder start stabbing the wire/s that leads away from the fuse holder and towards the ignition switch, you test light will illuminate validating the short. When the test light fails to illuminate you have passed the short and need to back up until the test light illuminates, then look in the immediate area for the short. If you driving down the road for 30 minutes or 15 miles and blow a fuse you have soft/flying short and may take some time and patience to find.If the main fuse/circuit breaker constantly blows/trips while riding you probably have a faulty battery terminal connection. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary. Any other fuses that constantly keep blowing while riding are usually caused by a loose or corroded ground wire in the circuit, which means you have to check, inspect, test each and everyone with an ohmmeter set on a low ohm scale 100 ohms or less. Simply touch one lead to the ground source and the other lead to the battery negative terminal, a reading of zero indicates a clean solid ground. Any reading or infinity indicates a poor ground and needs to be repaired. Poor or weak grounds require excessive additional amperage to complete the circuit which in turn blows the small amperage fuse. 2009 Harley Classic Glide. How can I find the source of an oil leak?

This is a simple case of hunting for it. **NOTE** Regularly check your oil levels until you fix the leak!* Take a good look at the engine using a flashlight, (torch), and see how high up the engine the oil is covering the thickest. Oil can leak from high up and dribble down to the floor so start at the top of the engine. Examine one cylinder at a time, (and from both sides), to work out which cylinder could have the leak. This will also give you a clue as to where the leak might be. You might have to remove some of the fairings and trim panels to do this. Oil covering Low down, check the Oil Pan gasket and drain plug washer. DON'T over tighten the drain plug as the oil pan is soft metal and you could easily strip out the threads.(25Nm/18ftlbs max). At Middle level, Check the Crankcase gaskets and seals. At High level, check the Head gaskets and the Valve Cover gaskets. You could try degreasing and deep cleaning the entire bike engine and using it for a 2 or 3 days. This way the oil leak will be more obvious as it will be showing up on a clean surface. Oil leaks could be from any point on an engine where there is a joint. Check around the filler hole as this might be loose or there has been overspill the last time it was filled. If these check show nothing you may have to get the engine looked at for more serious damage.

Will the stock exhaust from a 2000 ultra glide fit a 2002 electra glide standard

The only way to know this is to compare the two against each other. It will all depend on where the curves and bends are on the pipes and where the hanger brackets are to mount it to the frame.
