How to Click a Mouse

[Edit]

Do you have trouble correctly using a mouse? Do you continually 'miss' your target link when browsing the web? Well, don't worry. Though it may seem confusing or difficult at first, you can learn how to operate a mouse with these easy steps and tips.
Steps:
1. First make sure the mouse is connected and working. If you drag it around the arrow on the screen should move around with it. If not, you may have a technical problem.
2. Mice (more than one mouse) can be used by either hand. If you are left handed, you can just place the mouse on the other side of the keyboard, if it reaches. The mouse will work the same.
3. To hold the mouse correctly:
* Place the mouse so that the buttons are at the 'top', away from you, with the cord (if there is one) going away from you.
* Put the palm of your hand on the center of the mouse so that your fingers can reach the buttons. This should be a comfortable position to avoid wrist or arm injury.
* For Windows or PC users, Place your pointer finger on the left side of the mouse, or left button, and your ring finger on the right side, or right button. If your mouse has a button or 'wheel' in the middle, your middle finger can operate this. It may take a few minutes to get the hang of it, but it will be second nature in no time.
* For Mac users, or mouse buttons with only one button. Use any of your three center fingers to press the button.
4. To click, apply pressure to the mouse button until you hear a small 'click', then release pressure. You can usually do this at any speed with which you are comfortable.
5. To double click (for opening programs or folders), you must click twice in rapid succession. If you have physical trouble with the required speed, your computer can be adjusted to suit your needs.
Tips:
1. If the mouse isn't working properly for you make sure that your computer is plugged in and that it is on. Check that the mouse is not dirty underneath. If there is a ball, it might need cleaning.
2. Don't be afraid to ask for help from someone who has been using their mouse for a while. Most people are happy to help.
3. If your mouse is moving around when you try to click, try not putting so much arm or hand weight on the mouse, but just the finger pressure.
4. For moving the mouse quickly, use your thumb and pinky fingers to 'pinch' the mouse and lift it slightly in order to move it around. The thumb and pinky can also help to stabilize the mouse as you attempt to click with your other fingers.
Warnings:
1. Computers can cause serious muscle injury if used improperly. Ergonomics is the study of posture and physical stress caused by or affecting computer and other stationary activities. If you plan on using computers regularly, you should look into using proper ergonomics while on the computer.
