Question about 2004 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

Car shuts down when turning a corner

My Expedition shuts down( twice now) when I am rounding a corner- after a full stop. All the lights come on( even Check Engine) and I lose power steering as well as gas pedal pressure. I have to sit for a minute or two, and then restart. There is no alarm on it except Factory, however, I do not know if prior owner had an alarm. I did have car checked for this, and was told all alarm wires had been disconnected. It reminds me of a kill switch, like on a wave runner or bike....i'm driving my husband crazy, since it only happens when I'm driving.

I will have them check it out. The turns are slight, like rounding a corner, but maybe there is something wrong w/ the sensor, so it picking up the acceleration as a problem.

There is a sensor that cuts off the fuel pump when a car spins around such as if the police did a PIT manuever on you, in an accident etc, take it to the dealer for diagnostics

Since it only happens in mid turn or so, this could be it. Could be something else too.

On my 2005 F/expdn, if I am on red light stop, when rpm goes under 50 x 1000 my car shutdown. If I keep it above 50 by pressing accelrator is OK, pl suggest

1st your car should not idle below 110 rpm even in gear

idle problems on these are caused by both broken or open vac ports or a dirty throttle body the A/F ratio cant get a correct reading

99 ford escort hood does not shut tight enough and vibrates while running

there are adjusters on the front corners of the body at the hood corners, adjust them up about a full turn and tighten the lock nut. See how that works for you. Or, loosen the bolts on the latch and try to lower it. tighten it down and dee if that works for you. In adjusting either one, check tthe body lines so the durfaces are even. Good luck.-Ned-

Interior Lights and Door Ajar light stay w/beeping noise.

Try spraying WD-40 into the door latching mechanism (door side). I learned this fix after two battery replacements, but have only had to spray twice in the more than seven years of ownership

Enigine fail safe mode

I encountered the same problem, my engine fail safe mode light came on and shut the car down. I took my car to my mechanic and he found the solution to the problem. The car needed a throttle body cleaning and the fuel filter needed to be replaced. After having my truck serviced my mileage increased from 14.6 mpg to 15.4 mpg
ENGINE FAILED SAFE MODE WARNING LIGHT, GONE Total cost $86.45
